Interesting that Boit still comfortably in 2nd place. I wonder if the chase pack can see Boit and assume they aren't far back. I bet they don't know how far up Meb is.
I really want to believe this. That would be awesome.

If she had led and then blew at mile 24 or 25 I would say 'good for her for trying'. But this wasn't even close. She either WAY overestimated her fitness or just got caught up emotionally and 'went with it'. The way she kept looking at her watch at every mile, I think she overestimated her fitness.

MEBS STILL LEADING. Weldon keeps calling me saying meb can do it. I thought he needed 2 plus minutes at 30k.
Mile 14 - 4:48 (68:37)
Mile 15- 4:53 (1:13:30)
Mile 16 - 4:37 (1:18:07)
Milie 17- 4:59 (1:23:06)
Mile 18- 4:58 (1:28:04)
Mile 19 - 4:47 (1:32:51)
Mile 20 - 5:01 (1:37:52)
Do you have splits for the top 20?
Meb looks great.
Robert sounds very skeptical. 1:20 up with 6+ miles to go. 15 seconds a mile can easily be lost.
Can they do SPLIT screen? Let me just see what Meb looks like now. Haven't sen him in a while.
From now on, nobody is allowed to say Meb is "done" until he himself announces his retirement.
So is shalane done :( ?

Meb is actually wearing Heelys today and is literally rolling on the downhills.
^ Post of the day.
Does Lawson really think Jeptoo threw down a 4:47???
Come on... She's flying, but seriously?
What do you think Kimetto and Desisa will run for their last 10k?
I'd bet on sub 29. Meb needs to really bring it in, running close to 30:00 to have a chance
USA could go 8 deep if the Eggleston to McPherson group could make a charge,
What's with the soldier boys acting like idiots with their phones?

It's not because Shalane led the race that she blew it, it's just that she didn't have it. The other women ran about 1 second slower than she the whole way and now they're speeding up. They have it and she didn't and it's not simply the fact that she led and they "tucked in."
I admire her for going for it, by the way.
I admire guts, but I also have little time for fantasy. If she were rational, she would not have tried to run close to the world record, from the front, on a very tough course, when her PR is significantly slower.
There is being tough and there is being stupid. Would we admire a 4:20 miler that goes out in sub 4 pace every race just hoping that they will PR huge?
Eunice Kirwa and Gebremariam have dropped out at mile 15 in men's and women's race.
RITA JEPTOO JSUT RAN A 448 MILE FOR MILE - 24 THAT'S SICK.
Mile 21 - 5:45 (1:52:30) Melkamu missed water bottle but Deba gave her some.
Mile 22 - 5:17 (1:57:47)2:01 mark Deba is lost. down to 4. D2:02:15 down to 2.
Mile 23 - 5:14 (2:03:01
Mile 24 - 4:48 (2:07:49)
Where is Hall?
Meb just made it UP Heartbreak hill way in the lead. Hard to beat now.
Robert said remember NYC last year's women's race, but it is not like Meb is running some crazy time or is unexperienced.
He's the Olympic silver medallist, 4th at last Olympics, NYC champ and in PR half marathon shape.
LET'S GO, MEB!!

Here man, have $10,000 to throw the race, we need to let 'sorta American' Meb win... Good for nightly News propaganda for ABC, they can gush about how America has overcome the evil doers from last year... Pan to American flag...

There can be no doubt. This whole thing is absurd. Where did Meb drop the Africans? And at what pace? Sorry, but that just does not happen.

great point
Man, it would be nice if they could afford more than two cameras to cover this race. I haven't seen anyone other than the leaders on the BAA feed. (Other than the random start and finish line shots.)

He and Boit broke away before half-way. It wasn't really even a strong move, they just assumed he wouldn't be a player.
