Its not.
Its not.
How you're all picking Hasay over Martinez after Hasay lost to her by 15-20 seconds in a 5k a few weeks ago is beyond me. Not to mention putting both of them ahead of D'Agostino when Abbey easily has the fastest PR of the bunch.
I guess I wouldn't be shocked to see Martinez beat Abbey. But Hasay hasn't yet shown the ability to beat either of them, regardless of the type of race: fast, slow, or anything in between.
what drugs are you on?
Martinez 15:10
Abbey 15:20
Hasay 15:38
jordan'll show that she has the juice
Can you imagine an 800 WC medalist running a serious track 5K on the men's side?
If so, I'd love to know who.
Watching Hasay run, as much as I like her, I don't see the "RACER" in her. She will run fast, and has often won in that fashion, but when it comes down to aggression and I will die to win this race, she does not equal Bmart and Dagostino
yeah it boggles my mind to think about this. the best 800 guys are so specialized now...Souleiman was WC bronze @ 800m and has ran 7:39i. i suspect he could run with the big boys @ 5K. As far as current American's Torrence isn't close to being a 800 medalist, but 1:45 and 13:16 isn't shabby. Sowinski/Bang/Nick in a 5K is not happening hahaha!

Souleiman may be the biggest surprise around on the circuit this year. Watch your back side, Kiprop.

well said aouita won the olympic 5000 in 84 and got 3rd in the olympic 800 in 88
Is this commentary really annoying to anyone else? Who cares what the pace is or when they are gonna pick it up. And stop saying it's gonna be a "huge neg split". I don't understand why people dislike a tactical race. All the FTP commentators are saying is that they just want to see a fast race. In my opinion, watching people run single file even split to a fast time is not that exciting. Watching surges, variations in pace, you know, a REAL race... that's exciting.
Is 5k update please?
what you would like them to say....you want a npr annoucer

It is completely possible to give commentary for a race without going on and on about wishing the athletes would run faster. Watch the British commentators for the big European races. If the pace is slow, fine, mention it to give the audience an idea of what is happening, but no need to say over and over again, and asking questions like "what is the point of going for the win here, there is no prize money."
Surprised that A) the pace wasn't faster B) Jordan was only 5 seconds away from first C) Brenda was beaten by both Abbey D and Jordan
swedish girl meraf bahta wins in a shocker 15:30 over flores of mexico, d' agostino 3rd, hasy 6th, and martinez 8th.

2 Brenda Eunice Flores Mun Mexico-FMAA 15:30.87
3 Abbey D'Agostino Dartmouth 15:30.93
4 Jessica O'Connell UCAC 15:33.29
5 Emma Bates Boise State 15:33.42
6 Jordan Hasay Nike Oregon Project 15:34.35
7 Erin Finn Michigan 15:41.35

Neither A nor C is surprising.
The big reason is the heats are faster...the event is far more competitive. Anybody who can run 1:43 1:44 is looking for a kicker's race in the 1500m.
