That being said, we weren't directly comparing England to a state- just the absurdity of breaking down the records into tiny pieces.
England has more than 85% of the population of the UK (53.01 million out of 62.2 million).
If the UK were set up like the US, England would be a super state. You'd have 85% plus the Congressmen form it and it as being one of four countries in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) would have 12.5 senators.
