Jake and Zane Robertson have joined Al Sal and the Nike Oregon Project!
Any predictions on how they will go?

Probably by airplane.
It will be interesting to see what effect NOP has on their racing attitudes. They are both tough guys who are not afraid to back themselves and take it on up front from the start, which I think is refreshing in the sport and would hate to see them lose that in favour of adopting the now standard NOP race tactics.
I think it is cool, I really like those guys. They've had an interesting journey in going after their dreams.

Me too, except I am skeptical of this post.
Why skeptical? Mo and AlSal preparing to leave today, but one of the RObertsons was hanging around with Al wearing the same Nike kit as Mo. Makes sense in a way. I think he's been training in Iten for several months now, one to watch for this season.

AlSal has burned too many bridges with American runners and now has to recruit New Zealanders. I guess the original mission of the NOP no longer applies.
Alberto Salazar wants Someone who understands the ins and outs of Kenya training and running, he is going to copy and paste then take credit for it. Robertson's are semi Kenyans and what an asset NOP has landed on.
AlSal has two front runner types who know Kenyan running tactics. Why does this seem like the Robertson's are being enlisted to break wind for Rupp during training?
Is this another Duck Dynasty thread?
There will not be a dynasty until there is a pic showing camaraderie between Rupp and the Robertson's. A pic like the one showing Rupp and Farah sharing a Jacuzzi. This time it will be three guys in a tub.

This will make them great training fodder for Rupp/Mo/Centro

Any actual proof to go with this statement?
8/10 for originality.
Unfortunately, we may have to believe A Duck. His credibility when it comes to NOP has been pretty solid.

Maybe this was half recruiting trip and half checking up on his star athlete.
I was fortunate to meet and run with Jake three summers ago, and believe me when I say that this kid could become something incredible with the proper coaching. I got to sit down with him and go over his life leading up to the World Championships, and his journey, as an early poster mentioned, is nothing short of inspiring. He and his brother left New Zealand because they both realized that they couldn't reach the next level in athletics staying within their home country. And here's the crazy part, they made this decision as 16-17 year olds. I believe it was when world junior cross was in mombassa that they started to talk with Kenyan and Ethiopian athletes, and that's what convinced them to stay in Kenya and pursue the running dream. These guys are fearless, they had no chaperone, barely any money, and even were forced to sleep on the floor in the back of a kitchen for the early parts of there training around kapsabet. Things started to improve when steeple chase god Said Shareef took them underwing and got them set up with some training groups. In the years that followed, Jake and his brother steadily improved, Jake has run 13:16 in a ROAD RACE (somewhere in Europe, can't really remember but I know Said was in the race). He also is the first white athlete to make a kenyan olympic trials team by winning the 1500 m at iten's dirt track situated a modest 7500ft up. He did this at 21 years old! Had he been in the NCAA system, everyone in America would know his name, but because he's in kenya, he may as well just be another nameless kenyan runner. More importantly, all of this was accomplished while living in a home that would make Prefontaine's trailer look like a god-damn mansion, writing up their own training plans through bits and pieces picked up by the other pros lucky enough to have Canova or Brother Colm around, and having sub-par sponsorships and agents. Mark my words, if Jake joins NOP and stays heathy, he's going to be force to be reckoned with.
Robertsons are past their prime.
