welp
on average, humans at the equator tend to be taller and slighter builds. this body type has less surface area and does dissipate heat better than a shorter wider type. simple genetic adaptation, no bull from the announcers.
Oh no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Still looks fluid though
I think if he was really hurting, he'd ease up and job in for the win .. there's no need to go crazy in his first marathon and risk real injury.
Does anyone think the splits are off?
It makes no sense.
Were they really 62:09 at halfway? That's 64:18 pace.
At 25k - 74:00 - they wereon 2:04:53 pace.
At 30k - 1:28:39 - they are on 2:04:41 pace.
I'm glad I woke up. You guys are providing nothing of use typing here.
Is there no tracking? This doesn't seem to work:

All I know if from following this message board, but I hope Bekele can swallow his pride and drop out and not risk an injury that would jeopardize his future!!!
1:43:36 35k = 2:04:53 pace
14:57 last 5K!!!!!
Announcers just said he's on ~2:04:30 pace atm, has a minute gap on second

No idea. All we have gotten is some TV graphics occassional at some 5k splits. Those could be garbage though
Actually, it looks like he's eased up a lot.

Never mind.. 40 seconds?
How am I of no use typing here? I posted the exact same splits you posted.
I think he was just slapping his behind as to say to himself, 'lets's go big guy 10k to go'.
If the 35k was on, 2:04:50ish pace
The splits seem reasonable to me. It slowed down a bit to 25k, but around then bekele made the big move and picked the pace up.
Bekele seems to have slowed a bit to me, doesn't look like the killer instinct is kicking in, more like he wants to survive the last 6k.

What's off about that? Bekele made his move between 25 and 30k.
