She did the same thing in cross country. Had an outstanding year. She talked in an interview about never really training seriously or treating running seriously until this year, her senior year. She realized it's her last hoorah and she has to lay all of her cards on the table.
Reminds me a lot of Ben Dawson's story (also ran for Texas), who went from a mid 14-min guy to 13:40 in one year. Sometimes folks just make it on talent through high school and early college, then have a perspective change and come out with guns blazin' their senior year.
Hall has shown flashes of brilliance in the past, and from what I've heard is a HUGE talent. Looks like the new coaches at UT and the program changes have helped things come together at the right time. Good for her!
