I ran the 2013 Towpath, it's a figure 8 course. I trained and went there with the purpose of getting the Masters "W". When the race started I had a good idea of how many runners were in the lead. After the first turn around, I knew my chances were good and had to keep pushing. There were a few runners I could see and was working towards reeling them in. Runners were still heading out to the first turn around, so the path was crowded. All of the sudden I came up to a guy SHUFFLING along, I wondered how could I have missed this guy? I looked at the color of his bib and glanced at his face as I passed by, then I went back to work, forgetting about him. I ran the rest of the course never getting passed. After the second turn around I was hurting and not really paying attention to how many lead runners were coming back in. The few runners I saw looked young. When I met my wife at the finish, I was surprised when she told me an older looking guy finished ahead of me. I didn't see how that could be, but my brain was still rattled from pushing. When they called this guy up for the masters win, I knew he was dirty. He SHUFFLED up there like nothing and the rest of us could barely get off our chairs. My wife helped keep me in control. He grabbed his award and was heading out. I had to approach him. When I caught up to him I said "There's no way you finished in front of me, You cheated". He wouldn't even look me in the face and said "Whatever". After a day of getting my thoughts back together, I called the race directors and they listened to what I had to say. I was then connected with some local runners who also knew something was fishy with this guy. Thank You to the race directors and local runners who helped me put this dirty dog in his place. THE END
