A soft 13:24. The WR is 13:00. Both marks were set at Carlsbad.

Riveting race for the women!
But, now for the men's annunciation (race camera), the commentators are talking too close to the mic--quality is poor now, as opposed to earlier, particularly (Tony Reavis?).
Is there not a better 5K road course that holds a big elite field? With all the turns, it seems like it would cost them 5-10 seconds at least. The lead pack of females slowed to nearly a walk on one of the turns.

One more U-turn to go!
Side note: couldn't such a major race have a course with less U-turns?
*fewer U-turns
The whole lead pack looks smooth.
Super impressed with Diego! Courageous runner!

We are down to four! Shoulder to shoulder to shoulder to shoulder.
Estrada owning Tariku!!
Lagat really holding back a monster kick.
On paper, Kip Lagat is the standard for this field. But we run the race, we don't get the victory on paper.
Ironic that the one guy who grew up in the US can't get the US 2nd place bonus
Dejen really hammering hard. And he's got some distance. He knows he can't let it come down to the final 400 meters.
Here's Lagat, a new American record in 13:18

I want to do that morning run.
So I guess that now that WADA is drug testing people in Kenya more often, the new sexy place to train is Ethiopia.
Marc Davis seemed glad at first that someone broke his record so that he could get some camera time.
But, towards the end of the interview, a slight melancholy set in as he realized it would be the last camera time he ever got.

Bobby Curtis.
Another AR for Lagat.
How many is that? The guy is amazing.
