So everyone is bashing her as past her prime and bashing her marketability etc. She may be past her pime, and I wouldn't care to argue with that. I don't see her getting a hole lot faster for much longer. Also, it looks like the marathon might be getting more competitive with Huddle, Lauren Kleppin, Desi, perhapse Hasay and the like. Again no arguing. The one thing that hasn't really been discussed is that we have yet to see her compete since meeting back up with Wetmore.
What will be the famouse "Wetmore Factor," as it applies to the rest of Kara's career?
I see a PR in the 10, 1/2 and marathon in the next couple years ad likely another Olympic team (though as the 3rd runner).

You read it.
You responded.
You have the right to your opinion, as do they.
She is overrated, which is many people's opinion.
Just because someone disagrees with you doesn't make them a troll. Your thoughts on KG are not universal, but just yours.
She may never break 2:30 again, or may top out out at 2:25 or 2:27. May or May not be competitive for another Olympic team. Likely not but maybe. Made a couple Olympic teams and won a WC medal. Remains one of the top few most marketable female distance runners in the US.
There is a fair amount of vitriol that is nothing less than trolling. Either jealous chicks or more likely emasculated and insecure males, not unlike yourself. I laugh at your face! Yar.
Are they trying to remake the 1970’s, “I am women hear me roar” concept in order to promote their apparel line? Women in scary poses in 2014 do not convey confidence.

Ha!!! I'll take that bet 8 days a week. She's not going to PR in the 10k. Her 10th place PR was in the Olympics...again getting her 10th place:)
The half, that's a laugh.
The marathon? What are you smoking?
She's not PRing in the marathon, no way and that's her best shot as her speed is gone, looooooong gone!
There are some very "dumb" so called runners on these boards, very dumb indeed.
The women I run with:
[They] just love Kara Goucher. For them, a sub-4 marathoner is a good runner; a sub-3:35 open BQer is a rock star; Kara's 2:24.x makes her a god. No matter how "slow" Kara runs (2:30, 2:40, WHATEVER), she will remain a god.
[They] are adults, not girls. They are real working women struggling to fit 40 miles in their week. They value their kids, their friends, maybe their husbands a little bit. Kara looks and sounds just like them, only faster. The older Kara gets ("less relevant" in letsrun-speak), the more she looks like them. You can debate whether Kara made a wise decision, but the fact is she passed up sure money for emotional reasons, and that is going to resonate with their values.
[They] love running clothes. They are always shopping, talking about where to shop, showing off new items, comparing looks. The clothes have to be cute, but more importantly, the clothes have to be cute on THEM. But not being toothpicks, they don't look great in just whatever they throw on. If Kara's name can get them to linger a little longer in front of the Oiselle display, that's worth a lot.
P.S. - I think Lauren Fleshman took one for the team here.
P.P.S. - That picture of the Oiselle "flock" looks awfully ... white.
the little flock loves her and wants to be her friend
YOU don't know the exact details of her alleged "sure deal", only what was shared, but that doesn't make it 100% fact.
Get a clue. It's all "upstairs" and getting people to believe that she passed up something great to morally go with a better company (not worrying about money).
It's all BS. Kara Goucher will make plenty of money with her new deal and the statement that she passed up sure money will be repeated over and over and over and she will be the one saying it.
Can you people NOT figure this out? It's a marketing strategy and nothing more.
The bottom line is NOT emotional reasons, but $$$$$$$.
You have my pity Mr. Bennet.

There was an interview with Jerry Schumacher where he stated that he believed that she was in sub-31:00 10-k shape around August of last year before she got injured (which would essentially be a PR).
Now she's with a coach that is constantly under-rated, and constantly has his athletes prepared and they "over- perform."
By the way, I am a registered professional engineer with degrees in Math, Physics, and Civil Engineering...all with honors. You have the right to call me dumb, and I have the right to call you an ass hole.
My statement was based on an interview with a credible coach that would know a thing or two about it (significantly more than you'd know about it).
...also, just so you know, I married the prom queen.
The idea that she made this all about a moral decision was the most immoral decision that she could have made.
She just should have said that she was retiring and joining a company that hopes to sell clothes based on her being an attractive and athletic mother. I hope they don't want her to growl too.

Sorry, but as an outsider, I think you made yourself look like an a$$hole. No one cares about your fake occupation. What dribble. Married the prom queen, yeah sure, back to your basement loser.
My older brother turned down a gig with Google to join a start-up (Snapchat), and he is looking to bank big in the next 2-4 yrs.
Two thoughts....
I didn't know about this until yesterday, but knew something was up on Sunday when she asked on her facebook page "what you peeps have planned". Way more interaction than usual. someone coaching here on social media.
Fleshman very quiet. Is she now just the other runner at the company?
Is Fleshman even running? I believe she rabbited a race indoors but nothing else.
A lot of Millennials and Zoomers are doing this just to survive. Many have their jobs and have the Sunday Funnies (4pm onward) and look forward to getting to the weekend their whole lives.
Golden handcuffs are real. This is a thing.
Wait. Huh. Kara was 35 yo 8 years ago? Jiminy.
I'm just about at the point where I no longer have to work. Maybe a year from now. Have hated essentially every day since I started in the late-80s. Zero sympathy for the M and Z crowd. Sorry.

I have a career I enjoy. I like going to work most of the time. It doesn't pay particularly well, but I always knew I wanted to avoid being in the very spot you describe.
Who would have thought that Fleshman would have many times more personal wealth than Kara by now? Picky bars for the win.
