What happened when they left? I saw in the blog she mentioned she didn't leave on the best of terms but wasn't sure of the specifics. I don't recall a big blowout, but I might just be too young and not have been following the sport close enough back then.
It wasn't a big blow up that I recall. At the time they all said that he simply didn't have enough time for her.
This place is funny though. Everybody hates everybody so to speak. Just one big clusterfKK of hatred.
Yes, her ego is HUGE. I've never heard such bragging by someone who couldn't run a 2:23 marathon to save her life. She's truly full of herself. Oiselle loves me, is that what she really said?
Newton makes sense, they are right there in Boulder.
Are you kidding? Do a search of Adam's interviews. He went on and on about how Mark never believed in his talent and how he wasn't important enough to Mark. Total fool. Of course Mark did the classy thing and said nothing. We all know Adam did the same to Al Sal. Those two are high maintenance to put it nicely.

I had forgot about Adam, but how long ago was that? 7-8 years? What about Kara? The hate meter here started pretty high about that time when she moved out West.
As we say--like Jordan Hasay--Wetmore is a class act. A Class Act I tell you!
Kara Goucher is 35 years old and past her prime as a competitive runner. She made a business decision by default to represent a fashionable apparel company rather than pretend that she could still be competitive in the years to come. I have no doubt that she can achieve attention like Lolo Jones, but I don’t’ understand this seemingly orchestrated idea that she is breaking new ground for women by fronting an apparel company. Haven’t apparel companies been around for years? They come and they go.
I am in no way associated with Nike, but it seems to me that Nike focuses on supporting the most competitive runners with the greatest future. I think Galen Rupp is the perfect example. I don’t think he has been used to sell bras, t-shirts or even manly jock straps.
I think some young gals have watched a few prodigy runners like Mary Cain and decided that they were not likely to receive their own required level of attention in the coming years. And God has no wrath worse than gals furious that they have no chance to be the bell of the ball.
Her blog is self-absorbed. The new company "gets" her? She's neither an intellectual nor artist. She's a decent runner who has won very little. At least other self -absorbed narcissists like Sharapova have won something.
Is Kara empowering women by fronting apparel and taking her cut, or is Mary Cain empowering women by breaking records on the track and doing it with the greatest poise possible for someone half of Kara's age?

Well put. I don't know of a more self-absorbed female distance runner than her. She's an opportunist who's cashing in.

Apparently you haven't heard of the Queen of Humblebrag, Lauren Fleshman.
When does LR do a feature on the Mary Cain Crib?

Yes, you are correct, but I still give the nod to Goucher. Arrogance to the nth degree and anything but humble.

There is an infinite gap between Sharapova and goucher.
Sharapova is young, goucher old.
Sharapova is hot, goucher not.
Sharapova has won on the ultimate level, goucher hasn't.
Sharapova is marketable, goucher not.
Sharapova is intelligent, goucher has a box of rocks.
Sharapova understands her place, goucher is delusional.
This thread is a letsrun classic. Loser trolls who have never accomplished a thing in their life bashing one of the better US runners of the past decade plus just about anyone who has ever had contact with her.

You read it.
You responded.
You have the right to your opinion, as do they.
She is overrated, which is many people's opinion.
Just because someone disagrees with you doesn't make them a troll. Your thoughts on KG are not universal, but just yours.
I got admitted into Harvard. Decided to turn down a full ride at State U. because the Little Flock of Birds in the Harvard Admissions office said that they wanted to be my friends and that they love me. And I thought that by going there I can change the world.
One thing this thread has taught me is that todays HS kids think million dollar sponsorships are common place in todays business world.
Food for thought:
Someone on another board suggested she was offered an employee position with a profit sharing plan not a sponsorship.
I'll add a thought
A marketing position being the motivational speaker and company face at T&F connected Expos and Trade Shows. Twenty events per year?
In a 10 mil a year sales type company that might be as high as 60 grand, health plan and a share in employee profit sharing [if]/when they turn a profit.
wake up call
average US wage was $42,500 with a $27,500 median in 2012
Good for her. She's a great person, I really like her.

Stupid post of the year. You make no sense and nobody loves you.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
