Hasay defenders are either creepy or delusional. A 4:28 mile would have been a great women's time back in 1976.

Hasay's 2:08 800 PR would have placed her 8th in the 1960 Olympics. Feel good about that, fan boys.

3rd pace was only 4 seconds slower than first. First place ran a 4:23-4:24 closing mile, so 3rd place ran a 4:28 or faster (unless they gained ground on Dibaba, which they clearly did not). Hasay's mile PR is 4:28 and change. Hence there is 0% chance that Hasay could have gotten bronze in this race unless she were to set a mile PR at the end of a 3k.
Dibaba's last 1k was faster than Mary Cain ran her 1000m race for a world youth record. Jamal wasn't too far behind.
This^ Same point being made by 800 coach. If you think otherwise, you either don't know sh!t about track and field or you are just a troll looking to start more crap about GG vs. Nike
I believe the women in the 1960 Olympics ran in skirts.

If you come hot out of a turn, you can easily swing out wider than expected (lane 2 instead of 3). Even if you are running fast it can be hard to stay in lane 1.
And why do you think so many people were stepping "out of bounds". It isn't easy running fast and competing while maxed out on a banked indoor track.
^This.
This is a sad thread and really should be deleted. The vitriolic attitude about Gabe and the misplaced idolatry about Jordan (even if it is trolling) really is a poor reflection on people posting to this site. Neither would have medallled (GG didn't) even with their best race, and thinking so is a real slap in the face to other world-class runners. Obiri and Jamal are legitimate medalist runners and (even in jest) ignoring their previous accomplishments to continue this childish Hasay vs Grunewald battle (which exists ONLY on this board) is really pathetic.
Agreed. This is a little girl who just loves to braid her hair and then go for a run. This misplaced idolatry could mess her head up for a long time. She got victimized by an over-zealous coach and it has really blown up big time. At the end of the day, she's an adult in a bad situation.
I'm a huge Hasay fan, but she was getting lapped in DL at the end of last outdoor season. She's not yet a medal threat at an international level.
I hope she will get more competitive but maybe she just peaked young. 3000m is not her distance anyway. None of that takes away from her as a person and role model but you have to be realistic about the level she is running at.
GG was also not a medal threat against top international competition, although in her case, I wonder if she would have at least place higher in Sopot if she hadn't had to run rounds. She's a kicker and more of a 1500m runner. Performing at a high level in the 3000 2 days in a row was probably that much more difficult for her.

If that were the case, all the other runners would be doing the same thing, instead of staying in lane one.

So, despite a previous poster pointing out that she would have needed to run her mile PR for the last mile of the 3000 to get 3rd, and the fact that she has thus far in her life demonstrated no ability to run with the world's best, you're sticking with the "probably would have medaled" story?
Some people will have a crazy belief about one thing or another, and you can present them with all kinds of irrefutable proof that they cannot possibly be right, and
just completely demolish their argument, and at the end of it all, they're like "yeah, but still..."

Hasay would have gotten 3rd. No way they would have let the pace lag like that, Rowbury or Hasay would have pushed it along so I didn't come down to blazing last mile.
You're sure about that, right? Here are the actual results (top 4):
1 652 Genzebe Dibaba ETH 8:55.04
2 730 Hellen Onsando Obiri KEN 8:57.72
3 623 Maryam Yusuf Jamal BRN 8:59.16
4 728 Irene Jelagat KEN 9:02.67
So how come you're so sure she would have been 3rd, and not, say, 2nd? There's not a that huge of a gap between 2nd and 3rd, so why would you be so confident she could beat Jamal, but not Obiri.
Do you really think Hasay would have gotten up there and pushed the pace? And why do you say "Rowbury or Hasay would have pushed it along"? Rowbury was in the race, and didn't push it along. Would she have been so inspired by Hasay's presence that she would have changed her whole approach?
As much as I am a fan of Hasay and hoping for great things from her in the future, she would not have gotten close to a medal in Sopot.
The 1k splits were:
2:51
6:15 (3:24)
8:55 (2:40)
The last 1k was nearly as fast as Mary Cain in her 1k record performance a few weeks back. It was faster than Chanelle Prices 1k time in that same race.
Watching the race with 4 laps to go you see Shannon trying to stay with the lead group. Now knowing the pace the lead pack was running you can understand that she did not drop off the pace. Shannon ran 9:07 so her last 1k was at 2:56 approximately.
If Shannon or anyone else took the pace out hard so that she ran 8:50, I would think the other girls would have easily matched it and run well under 8:50.
Or even 8:16.

Rowbury likely ran 2:52 for the last k if she stayed on pace at the earlier splits
3:24
2:51
2:52
= 9:07
Jordan Hasay is a crap runner.

Yeah, we all know it´s impossible to beat Americans without PEDs, especially if you come from some primitive African shithole.
Personally, I find it a bit disturbing Hasay has maintained the same look since she was 8 years old. It's like she is purposely attracting weirdos and stalkers. Her sponsor should really be American Girl. Until she grows up, I am not going to be much of a fan.
