White sprinters dominate WC

But Sally Pearson lost.

A white guy won the 60 and the 400.

They both were European.

Will the sprints be like the NBA where all the best white players are European?

Maslak seemed to have an advantage on the turns from his smaller stature.

He's still very fast, but outdoors, flat 400m oval is a bit different.

Low-44 44.0 from him.

Maslak has a small upper body, giving him a low center of gravity and he motors the curves like a Formula I car. I agree he will be a bit of an indoor specialist, but even if he runs only a second faster (should be able to) outdoors he will at least be a medal contender.

Here is the freaky thing: I watched most of the semis for these two events, and I recall one other white guy (a Brit in the 400 I think). Out of at least a couple dozen cotenders, pretty much the ONLY white guys win both. Pretty wild, really.

Are you sure you watched more than one semi?

Guy's! When I was an athlete we didnt say, hey look at that white kid run. White kids decided to run distance because of racism and segregation on teams; not because of anything else.

This is racism, Let's cut it out. Starting not to like this website because of topics like this. All you do is cover distance anyway mostly anyway, I wonder why.

Why is it most white kids run distance? Who tell athletes what to run or do? Just read the messages on this, you all seem surprised that a white kid sprints. It has nothing to do with race, it never did. Race is always the butt of the jokes, and the reason why white kids dont sprint, but rather go jog in a mile race with their friends because the coach determines the black kids are the bruts and can handle anything.

Be honest with yourself, when jamaican had half miler's noone paid attention to them, but when Coach cook at Mason was training them and had a 75% black 4x800 relay at Penn relays winning, ppl thought that was strange. Wake up people.

Part of the problem is a believe thing, that too many whites growing up don't believe they can compete with blacks. You see this in football as well as track, where whites are sent to the lines and blacks are sent to the skilled positions...sometimes even without testing them.

In Europe, they have consciously moved away from the distance jogging, and you see more whites in sprinting at high levels as well as in field events of course. The majority of jumping golds in the last Olympics were won by whites, but you still see the "white men can't jump" thing.

The sad truth is that medals won by American white sprinters in the last 20 years make the distance runners look like a joke (I believe it's 16 medals, and most of them are gold)...but most people to believe it that way and they all go out for cross country.

Yes , I imagine that if White kids in Canada, Italy, Germany, Poland, Russia, Bulgaria etc... aren't dominating the sprinting World it's because Blacks from these countries don't let them compete, of course I mean they're everywhere !!!

This is news...and with that Kilty guy winning the 60 I fear for the headlines in the news in the upcoming months.

All three I see in young kids in my gym who are experimenting. Kilty has all the signs, so I won't be surprised if he took a wrong turn in proving to UK athletics he cannot be overlooked.

In that light; that guy from Guyana looks like Julian Dunkleys little brother; totally unbelievable (in a 'positive' ;-) way)

That 400 guy; a long way from making medals in the outdoor 400. He's an indoor runner. Nothing wrong with that, but and indoor compared to an outdoor 400 is a different game for the guys who are not the super-elite.

People segregate themselves in sports in the same way they choose to live, work, etc. No government mandate can change that.

than the rest in final bar maybe the guy in 2nd.

I was watching a hs meet the a few weeks ago in a highly segregated city (NYC) and guess what - 90% of the sprinters were black and 90% of the distance guys were white or asian.

That sort of self sorting is extraordinarily difficult for adolescents to avoid.

Yet an Asian kid did place 6th in the 60 meters - good on him.

If you sit and watch 100s of black kids running legs of the the 4 x 4...it sure looks like some of them would make fine distance runners, but they'll never get the chance.
