This is the part that would make any real coach VERY suspicious:
I had an MRI scan on Saturday and it was all clear, but I still feel the pain when I wear spikes and have decided not to risk making it worse in Poland
And here is the truth about MRI and calf strain:
http://tracking.si.com/2014/02/25/chase-headley-out-calf-strain-mri-injured-padres-mlb/A Grade I calf strain WILL show up on an MRI, but of course, a national champion pulling out will look Regina-like and Nike/NOP would be pressed to produce the MRI. Every coach has seen these, and I had a couple myself. A calf strain that causes you to take a couple of weeks off is something that makes it painful to walk on when it starts. There is no question: You KNOW. If she had one of those, the MRI would show it.
If you had a little pain that doesn't show up on MRI (I guess like Rupp in that one race), an honest coach would inform USATF to make sure the alternate is ready and then go to the race, at least do a pre-meet session, and see how it goes.
This, combined with Ritz pulling, and no appearances at all from Centro, makes me even more suspicious than before.
It simply doesn't add up technically.
