"fail" could mean a lot of different things: from DNS to DNF to failure to break 2:18 (B standard) to failure to break 2:15 (A standard) to failure to break 2:13 (which is roughly where the line is to reasonably be in Olympic team contention; you may disagree as to where this line is) to failure to keep up with Teg (the other Schumacher male marathoner) to failure to actually make the Olympic team to failure to break 2:10 to failure to keep up with Ritz to failure to be competitive internationally. Which one of those do you mean?
