actually I have no clue what you are trying to say. this is what it should be:
"It’s easy to see how the mistake happened. The referee was told there was a foul involving Bumbalough/Rupp near the 2k mark. He goes back and watches the tape, sees contact and disqualifies Bumbalough, failing to realize that the runner making contact was Hill, not Bumbalough."
My challenge: Post Examples of DQs for Actions Similar to Grunewald and Ryan Hill

I would image any case of a foul being called due to clipping a runner's heels would be the same, and that has happened many times.
You seem to be looking for one in which the runner didn't fall. I don't think the fact that Jordan didn't fall should take away from the fact that she was fouled and could have fallen.
Remember, the foul is in the action, not in the result(falling).
Disqualifications are usually determined by the result from the action and if someone gained an advantage. -
BroJos... it doesn't happen often, because most runners are more professional at racing than Grunewald and Merga.
-
I can't believe how the Brosjo spent all that money to update the website, and then proceed to crap all over their investment with this endless, poorly-reported and biased nonsense.

For someone so hung up on somebody else's writing, you could at least not mix verb tenses. -
you're right no example so far. But we also have no examples of an track athlete running into the back of two deferent runners within 100 meters of a race. As the announcer puts it GG- "She is like a out of control toy car".

right, except she never touched rowbury and barely touched hasay, who was weaving and way off the pace.
other than that, yeah, you're right. -

When did Weldon tell Alberto or any representative that he wa unwilling to tell his side of the story? I guarantee that they would love to interview Alberto. You can't say that letsrun is only telling one side of the story and not return phone calls.
For the record the WSJ onal y told alone side of the story as well. FOR THE SAME REASON
Exactly. As I wrote to Alberto Salazar's son, we did not see the incident. So we can only report what other people who witnessed the incident or were in the incident said happened. That's how it works. -
Tom McKean 1988 Olympic 800m QF disqualified for shoulder-charging an opponent when finishing in the last qualifying place. Can't find a video of this though.

There's no video evidence of anyone ever getting a ticket for driving 500 mph on a freeway.
Therefore this must be okay, and if someone did get a ticket for this then it wouldn't be fair. -
This is a famous race that supports your position--the 1997 WC 1500m final:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hU3aFIlT3go
Better known for the conflict between Sonia O'Sullivan and Regina Jacobs, at 4:00-4:05, see Anita Weyermann forces her way between TWO people (Ewerlof and Jacobs) to create a gap where no gap existed. Weyermann ended up with the bronze.
Salazar and the NOP people are a bunch of wimps. I have to believe that any European posters are laughing at this (the race, not Salazar's performance that followed). -
That's a really good point - why don't we make our decisions in USA meets based on what Europeans might think. Better still, we can stop the Meet, and show the footage to a panel in London, Paris, and Zurich, and wait for their ruling.

You do realize that cars on freeways CAN'T go 500 mph, right? Ticket or not, this simply isn't physically possible.
Just so you understand the logic of this challenge - videos of minor heel clipping/cutting people off in races are common, but videos of these incidents resulting in DQs are not. -
i honestly do not know how you can call yourselves journalists and supporting the sport when you continually delete posts and opinions that differ from yours.
you set up a message board that is ostensibly open, only to take down threads and messages and edit them to your liking.
how does this move any discussion forward? -

From what I can tell no one has presented evidence of someone being DQd for a similar move. I saw a DQ for some guy passing on the inside at British nationals. Everything else has largely been people doing way worse and not getting DQd. Of course that doesn't mean anything.
And it doesn't have to be video evidence. If you've got a recap or remember any pro race with a similar DQ, post it here or email me wejo@letsrun.com -

Reply to my other posts than also, and if you're agreeing with someone who wrote. "You can't say that letsrun is only telling one side of the story and not return phone calls." (who's not returning phone calls here? me? alberto salazar? ryan hill? sarah palin?) or "WSJ onal y told alone side of the story as well. FOR THE SAME REASON" -
This is idiotic...sometime things get called sometimes they don't . Even the NFL which has the best and highest paid refs miss stuff. Not everything is a conspiracy ...sometimes people are human and screw up.
Get off your high horses, bros. You want to take a real stand? How about calling out all the shoe companies who are all to happy to let Nike be the biggest sponsor of USATF. Why aren't they ponying up more $$??

Ok, it now seems pretty certain the official got confused and meant to DQ Ryan Hill and not Andrew Bumbalough in the men's 3k.
I've heard a few people post that Gabriele Grunewald should have been DQd.
My reaction after watching both videos is "Absolutely not a DQ."
My second reaction is "I've never seen someone DQd for something similar to whay both the officials tried to DQ Grunewald and Hill for."
My
challenge to the people who believe in the DQ for either/both runners is post past examples
(video preferred) of any pro race where people were DQd for such
incidental contact. I can come up with a bunch of examples where people
aren't DQd for siilar and much more egregious contact but I'd like to see at least one example
for where they were.
If you haven't seen the races:

Full video at 5:40 mark here:
Women's
3k at 10:09 here -
DQed for running on the inside of the track.
Not for tripping 3 competitors.
