Great that it made the WSJ. I see this as a win-win: GG was reinstated [imho, she never should have been DQ'd, but whatever] and the issues with USATF have gotten national coverage with a focus on the problematic business relationship with Nike.
Everyone needs to follow the link and read the article. We need to get as many clicks on the link as possible so the media realizes that there are people interested in Track and Field.
Intersting line from the article:
"The USATF said that Grunewald's reinstatement was separate from Hasay's withdrawal."
The reinstatement was separate from the withdrawal? The initial announcement made it sound otherwise. On what grounds did USATF reinstate Gabe if not Jordan's withdrawal?
Are they admitting fault, kinda? Are they saying there process was flawed?
great photo of alsal
I like the quote from deer Adam:
The contact between Grunewald and Hasay didn't cause either runner to fall and occurred on an indoor track where races tend to be very physical. "In just about every race I've ever been in, there's been more contact than what I saw in that footage," said Adam Goucher, a 2000 Olympian in the 5000 meters and a former professional runner for Fila and Nike, where Salazar was his coach.
Could they be hobby runners and regular readers of Letsrun or some other running message board?

no one really cares. Dibaba laps whoever anyways.
And GG shouldn't even worry about Dibaba. Just run her race evenly paced, throw the hammer down at the end and let the chips fall where they may.

It's such a joy to read professional writing about track and field.
I wonder if they were awaiting resolution before publishing.

If USATF was ever the subject of real scrutiny from major news outlets, this wouldn't happen. letsrun does an ok job of this but they need some help from real journalists.
