Did Kara, Shalane and Hastings run the Olympic Trials? Because they all ran at the WC as well.
Why don't you ask Desi yourself, you moron.

Exactly. This is entirely different. Nike strong armed USATF.
I feel sorry for Hasay and I hope she doesn't end up leaving the sport over this.
Why does anyone care what Fleshman has to say? Just wondering?

The apology was a classy thing to do though.
The classy thing to do was stay out of it in the first place.
I'm amazed at how much people f@#$ stuff up and then when they get called on it, they apologize, and people say they are "classy". Classy is not making a boor out of yourself in the first place. She can stuff her sorries in a sack!

she is a respected elder with a reputation for speaking her mind. She is not ALWAYS right and she doesn't ALWAYS speak her mind, but she has been a meaningful commentator on the sport for several years. And since she was formerly an insider, she has some rare insight.

lol..... elder
There needs to be more transparency with Fleshman's twitter comment.
1) Why did she first call Hasay out on Twitter? What conclusive evidence did she have that Hasay wanted the DQ.
2) What did Fleshman stand to gain by these comments? Self esteem, self promotion, company publicity?
3) Who cares?

Im not only glad she made the tweet but believe that she SHOULDNT apologize for it. Im on the NOP side of things here but believe that this in some small way helped to get the eventual resolution, moreso even than the 1500 girls walking off the track in unison.
People are too "politically correct" to make statements and Im glad that Salazar goes after people and protects his athletes. I could only PRAY that my coach did the same thing.
Wasn't Fleshman our top American at Worlds anyways? 7th? The top non-African in the finals...

You would be proud to be GIVEN a spot you didn't earn because your coach's ability to bully volunteer into disqualifying the race winner?
You sound like part of problem. If you want to make a championship team or win a race, try outrunning your competition. Don't rely on manipulating the rules and processes.
Ugh. If Gabe didn't clip the 2 girls in front it wouldn't be an issue.

And for that I am glad
It's a pity Lauren caved into those who want this story to end in a kumbaya orgy. Jordan Hasay tried to cheat her way to the Worlds. Nobody should apologize to such a classless human being.
I always liked lauren but this is condescending
An apology should be something like "I was out of line, I apologize. Wish you the best"
That would have been classy

Yet somehow three out of four rounds of appeal saw no foul. Maybe Nike is really the victim here!

She never "clipped" anyone. Hasay's left leg tagged GG's as Hasay was moving in and GG was progressing forward. Both parties contributed.
Rowbury never had ANY contact with her on the last lap and her post-race interview proves it.
GG was running ineptly (*almost* causing a collision, running farther than she needed to, etc.), but she didn't foul anyone in any meaningful sense. Hasay finished where she would have in any case, as did Rowbury. It IS possible for both clumsiness and no foul to happen, and that's what did.

The thoughtful critics have a point. In retrospect, twitter is not the best place for a big sisterly pep talk. Apologies to @JordanHasay.
What an ego. She didn't give a "big sisterly pep talk," and Hasay didn't ask for her opinion, help, or "pep talk."
Lauren just took a cheap shot because she now hates her former sponsor.
An apology, be definition, includes an admission of exactly what one did that was wrong -- a true apology does not contain an hedge or an excuse.
Fleshman needs to get over herself.
I think we all know if Fleshman had been run into like that in a race, she'd be raising holy hell on her blog and twitter about it. She's got a long ways to go to grow up...
