Send it to me. I love Nike gear.
Thank you Nike Inc for all you do for T&F!

I doubt it will happen, but I seriously hope the Brojos write an absolutely scathing article when they recap.
Regardless of whether you believe that Grunewald should have been DQed or not...the manner in which it happened is reprehensible.
Three times petition for DQ rejected, Nike gets involved...and magically the athlete gets DQed. We talk alot about stuff that is bad for the sport...something like this is about as high on the list as bad for the sport as it can possible get.
USATF is now and always been awful - which is hardly surprising when you think about the ways in which USATF is beholden to USOC, IOC and IAAF.
The one good thing that could come of the GG DQ [if she is in fact DQ'd - the result is still listed as "pending" on the USATF site] is coverage by mainstream media engaged by the human interest cancer survivor angle. As in, GG beat cancer twice but she couldn't beat USATF - Nike collusion. I could definitely see that making the papers in the Twin Cities, and with the right push, the story might just find its way into the Wall Street Journal or the NY Times. [bit of a long shot, I know, but if the DQ happens, I'm going to at least try to start that ball rolling.]
Nice way to obfuscate the story. She ran sloppy and got dinged for it. Lance rode the cancer story line too. How about you pull facts not heart strings.
Also, wait for the final verdict and see what the ruling says. Ever think maybe they refused to review the video until the last appeal?

It matters not. At the Worlds Dibaba will make all of these runners look very bad. Howver if Rowbury was in peak form she could be in the mix for a medal but I am not sure she is peaked and she also has some kinesio tape on the upper left leg. Possible nagging injury?

It's not Hasay's fault, she's just out there running what NIKE is paying her to do. Don't get on Jordan. Plus, Grunewald is known throughout running circles as an incredibley very "aggressively dirty" runner. JORDAN WINS! over dirty runner.
If you don't think Hasay is actually dirty, you are the foolish idiot. She's on the same cocktail as Rupp and Farah, the same one that keeps giving AlSal heart attacks.
I've watched that video 10 times. I've never in my life seen someone DQ'd for that. If I didn't know that exact time of when the supposed "foul" occurred, I wouldn't have even known where to look.
This is why people laugh at figure skating. The "winner" becomes just an arbitrary arbitrary decision. It's idiotic.
If in the future, evidence surfaces that NOP is cheating, this will be the "jump the shark" event. We'll look back and say, we should have known that if Salazar is willing to bully USATF, he was definitely willing to enhance his athletes.
There is an entitlement here that is eeritly similar to Lance Armstrong. The pull within USATF is really shady.
The warning signs are there, we shouldn't be putting much stock in the success of this group.
Is it possible that a bunch of non-Nike coaches/athletes do an en masse walkout from the meet? Have USATF try to explain in a release why all these athletes have said 'F U' to the meet and the number of empty spots in the races...
It was all a work to generate interest in the sport.
Grunewald clearly did impede both Hasay and Rowbury's strides on the last lap. She ran into the back of Hasay completely throwing her off then shortly afterwards she slightly bumped into the back of Rowbury as well. I know it's indoors but you can't just run so close behind people in a race, especially when you are as tall as Grunewald is.

You nailed it.
This is the equivalent of a US skater winning in Sochi, and a Russian coach bullying the judges to repeatedly "take a closer look" until they come up with a result that he likes.
Did you watch the race? wrote:

It is amazing that fanboys are still missing the point here so badly.
You are doing this deliberately, right? Right??
Grunewald ran like a runaway beer truck! She still would have won cleanly without running up on Hasay and Rowbury. She earned the DQ.
I've been DQ'd (after winning conference for the first and only time in my life, no less) for much less than that.
If that sort of contact occurred in a pack then MAYBE it should be ignored, but Grunewald just ran straight into the back of Hasay with all the room in the world. She then proceeded to run straight into the back of Rowbury with even more room.
I'm not saying there isn't some legitimate controversy with the multiple appeals, but the fact of the matter is that she CANNOT run like that. It's sloppy, bordering on dirty, and perhaps this DQ will be a wake-up call to stop swinging her body everywhere. Even in the pack it looked like she was flopping around.

If you've actually been following along, you'd know that it was actually Hasay that cut in front of Grunewald.
Grunewald didn't touch Rowbury. She ran up on her and then pulled up herself a bit.
Where's Gladwell? Pull final 250's from other Hasay 3Ks and project a clean finish time for her. Bet she still finishes down.

I was simply hoping the cancer angle might draw attention to what I see as the real problem - the ineptitude of USATF. If your officials decide to DQ someone, fine. If a protest is filed, denied, appealed and denied again and your rules say at that point the result is official, then the result should be official. But integrity isn't exactly USATF's strength.
This particular case is small beer compared to, say, the Allyson Felix - Jeneba Tarmoh mess at the 2012 trials. And this type of thing is just a small part of what's wrong with the way USATF promotes the sport.
Anyway, after doing a little more looking around, I now strongly suspect this story is going to die a quick death because I see that this Doyle Management Group that reps GG is a big-time operation with a very impressive client list that include big-time Nike athletes like Ashton Eaton. I can't imagine Doyle is going to risk pissing off Nike over an athlete who's probably one of their smallest revenue generators. Oh well.
Salazar is a penis.
Nike is a big pile of sh*t.
