I don't get this at all. The announcer said the fast pace favored Rupp and I agree. He's the 10k guy. Hill would have had a better chance with a slow pace and all out kick.
This is so true.

If Salazar landed the punch he can be arrested on battery charges. If not assault.
And all you guys that think you aren't going to have team tactics or bumping in big races come on. Happens all the time.
There's an issue with this, namely that Salazar would not have the power to get Bumbalough DQ'd.
Salazar's Power, as everyone seems to think, comes from Nike. Bumbalough is a Nike athlete, so it is absolutely against their interests to get him DQ'd. In the case of Hasay vs. Grunewald, yes, they do benefit from Hasay going to Worlds. However, in the case of Bumbalough, DQing him would only make them look bad.
Moreover, Bumbalough being DQ'd quite literally had zero impact on the results that actually mattered. Nobody under any circumstance derives any benefit from it, which leads me to believe that he was ACTUALLY DQ'd by a standard officiation.
The point about the Kenyans and Ethiopians trying fast tactics in this statement is completely irrelevant.
I'm assuming that you've forgotten every time they've lost the world championships as well as the Olympic championships to Farah.
That girl from brooks tripped up Shannon and Jordan , she ran retarted . she should be DQ'd . That wasn't even race tactics it was just stupidity
It was incidental contact. This happens all the time in track...runners trying to get around each other. It did not cause her to fall and did not prevent her from winning race. The number of appeals that had to be filed to have Salazar gets his way is what most disturbing.
Salazar yelling match withe usatf officials and Schumacher did him, his athletes, and Nike no favors.... It was a display of an angry man who was trying to bully those around him.

Hmmm. Anyone else see the irony in that tweet?
gruenwald was all over people, she should have been dq'd, she was unable to control herself.
more planned was the schumacher crew blocking rupp repeatedly. lomong at least 4 times and hill twice.
thats just team tactics, and rupp should have run away from it; he seemed unable to a first,
then the whole last two laps became a boarder x race.
Where is the evidence of the Jury of Appeals decision? I don't see how it's possible that new evidence was introduced. I'm not arguing for or against any athlete here... I'm asking specifically about the appeal, were they followed? One reason for a lengthy and detailed rule book is TRANSPARENCY. Why hasn't Salazar already provided an interview to clear things up? What a sneaky low life... If I were one of his athletes right now I would be feeling very uncomfortable being associated with this guy. Am I asking for a lot here? Where's the new evidence and what exactly caused them to change their minds?
yes, and somebody called him out on twitter for it (the 2008 trials 10K, if anyone was born yesterday :)

I believe he didn't have a qualifier, but got in the race via some back door power play.

Goucher was outside the qualifying time and way back on the list. Instead of going for the time qualifier, he played his cards and was appealed into the 10k. People beef about the process and his choices, which were not shining. But... he was on the WC team the year before, and had run 13:10 and 27:50's a year before that.
He finished 7th in 27:59.31, one place ahead of da Ritz.
You wanttot talk about "team tactics", lets talk about the 10k at USAs last year...Ritz just paced Galen until the last lap, while not letting CDerrick by. Almost the same thing as bumby in the 3k.
I agree. I have not seen the mens race but my immediate reaction to the controversy was that this is no different than what NOP and other groups have done in the past.

The difference was that Ritzenhein was trying to win the race. He even stated in his post race that he thought he could beat Rupp based on how his workouts were going. He was not pacing Rupp.

After all the athletes who criticized AlSal either left or got dumped by Nike, I was off the NOP bandwagon; I'm officially back on. I don't even care that it's unjustified or that it's throwing weight around or if it's a breach of decorum. It's passionate, it's entertaining, and it is generating emotion among fans of the sport. If I told my non-running friends about the two respective groups a few months ago they wouldn't care. If I tell them tomorrow and tell them that punches were thrown by coaches in a backalley warmup zone, they will take sides for sure. This story should get exposure, but I bet Nike and USATF want this quiet. I can't understand why; aggressive rivalries are the backbone of most other popular sports.
^^ this
You NOP haters always want to talk about how they're doing bad for the sports, but they are actually publicizing the underrated sport of running. How come 2 basketball players or 2 NFL coaches getting into it is right and it's considered the nature of the sport, but track is not the same way. The sports needs to be a little more aggressive and passionate.

Hey, I got an idea. Why don't everyone just shut the F up and run like hell just incase the Ethiopians or Kenyans want to try a fast paced "team" race at the worlds meet while on their PED's? It might be good practice for everyone and increase their chances at actually producing some G-D results for once!!!!!! All this in-fighting doesn't improve our chances any.
"Run like hell" ... Isn't that exactly what Grunewald did?
Are you suggesting that Alberto should have STFU?
