Well I don't want to get into any trouble or anything for libel, so I'll just say that I was trolling. But it'd be awesome if that was what really happened.

Oh my the message boards are crashing...
Don't know if anyone else saw this, but I saw Bumbi smile a couple times like a little boy up to no good when he was leading the race.

I don't get this at all. The announcer said the fast pace favored Rupp and I agree. He's the 10k guy. Hill would have had a better chance with a slow pace and all out kick.
Rupp in 3k shape not 10k shape.

Way to libel and admit it.
Poor little AlSal. His athlete got second, got destroyed by a 39-year old, Team Schumacher accomplished their goals of having Rupp lose and qualify Hill for Worlds and the distance running community is happy someone finally called AlSal out in public. The running community is a little happier in Portland tonight :)

I don't buy that. He clearly has better long endurance than Hill and the comparison is what matters.
And Rupp's endurance was clearly the difference as Hill ran out of gas. Shorter, sharper kick and Hill has a better chance.

A false statement must materially harm the individual in order to be libelous. Please tell us what harm has resulted from the post in question.

Only two qualify for indoors.
After all the athletes who criticized AlSal either left or got dumped by Nike, I was off the NOP bandwagon; I'm officially back on. I don't even care that it's unjustified or that it's throwing weight around or if it's a breach of decorum. It's passionate, it's entertaining, and it is generating emotion among fans of the sport. If I told my non-running friends about the two respective groups a few months ago they wouldn't care. If I tell them tomorrow and tell them that punches were thrown by coaches in a backalley warmup zone, they will take sides for sure. This story should get exposure, but I bet Nike and USATF want this quiet. I can't understand why; aggressive rivalries are the backbone of most other popular sports.
A Duck how stupid are you? The onion said mother Theresa was in hell getting gang raped by demons and they're golden, I don't think anyone saying Salazar supplies dope is going to get in trouble.
I was there, and here's what went down:
Salazar called out Schumacher for Hill tripping Rupp. Something along the lines of him being lucky Hill doesn't get DQed.
Schumacher responded, although it was tough to hear. Definitely nothing about PEDs, but I did hear the words "foot" and "Rupp" in the sentence.
Jerry was very content with himself after this. I thought he was going to burst out laughing, actually.
Salazar flew into a rage, as described earlier. His eyes were bulging out of his head, and his face was beet red.
As suggested earlier, USATF officials did have to separate the two. Despite Salazar being the more upset of the two, Schumacher apparently wouldn't let it go. As Salazar was being backed down, I heard Schumacher yell, and I shit you not, "I'll give your Mom a cuboid bone!"

If Salazar threw a punch what is his claim? Would it be that he was standing his ground? Would it be that he was defending himself?
"If my athletes were on PEDs" says absolutely nothing about Salazar. Salazar's name is not included in the supposed statement.
A Duck, stay out of the libel claims business. You do not understand a thing about libel laws.

Even so, he is is damn good 3k shape. Still seems like a fast pace would be good for him.
It's long been known inside running cirlces the Nike coaches Jerry Schumacher and Alberto Salazar have a frosty relationship to say the least (we're under the impression they basically don't speak to each other).
The tension between the two tonight reached a new level as a trusted source called us to say the two got into a heated exchange after the men's 3k and had to be physically separated/restrained.
Our source thought it began after Salazar got upset at Schumacher and/or his athletes for using team tactics to try to take down Galen Rupp.
The altercation didn't happen in the press area but rather in the athlete/coach/warmup zone.

This sounds legit except the Cupid bone part at then end. What is that all about?

No. Rupp has a faster mile time than Hill and has been focused on running the mile and 3000m. There is no evidence that Hill is speedier than Rupp right now. Or do you think Hill can run a 3:50 right now?
It is entirely possible that Hill has better endurance than Rupp at the moment judging by NOPs results in the past. They aren't afraid to sacrifice endurance for speed. It's worked out moderately well for Rupp and Farah.

Well, he closed in 26.2 in a 7:34 race. That's evidence of some pretty good speed.
More importantly though, is that Rupp, though clearly fast, does not seem to be able to show his speed in races. He can run fast times. However, he cannot put together that fast last lap off of more uptempo races. He can and has done it consistently in the 10000.
In the 3000/5000 I can think of only one race where Rupp has had a solid world class last lap and that is his 52 high to beat Lagat @ the trials.
In other words, Rupp has the ability to run phenomenal in the last lap and be a serious gold medal contender, but seems to have trouble finding that gear change in fast races. It's definitely his achilles heel right now, and it keep him at "really fast, solid international runner" just shy of international 3000/5000 gold medal favorite.
A little too much text, but basically Hill has shown that he has that last lap quickness to medal...Rupp at shorter distances hasn't pulled that out in quite a while.
