The idea that you should enjoy your work is something new. It's work, not vacation. I think it is something that can cripple people. They realize they aren't doing exactly what they want to do, and make themselves miserable.
You work to finance your personal life. Worry about that.
This idea is not NEW. That is utterly false. There have always been groups of people looking for meaningful enjoyable lives. The romantics, the beats, the hippies, the human potential movement, greek and roman philosophers have all explored the idea of finging joy in your daily life.

My last words of wisdom - NOTHING you do in this that you get compensated for will be enjoyable, nothing. Don't expect pleasure in business.
This is utterly wrong--you've chosen a path where this is true but there are others out there. I'd be in your shoes, trading quality of life for money, if I worked in finance, banking, or accounting too.
Instead I'm making 6 figures as a software engineer at a company you've heard of. Exciting problems, interesting work, cool technical challenges. I know I'd make way more programming if I worked for the right companies--the money for good programmers on Wall Street is apparently crazy--but that doesn't appeal to me.
I don't doubt you're making more than me. But to say that nothing you're compensated for will be enjoyable--100% false!
