Was at a track and field clinic today. There was a speaker named Ron Johnson whose bio states he is an assistant coach at the University of Texas, a nine-time Texas high school state champion coach, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin (1970-75), a member of the football and track and field teams there, and a member of the 1975 and 1976 US National teams.
I'm unconvinced, but I'm willing to be convinced. Can anyone out there do that for me?
T & F clinic imposter?

But they've had quite a bit of turnover lately. Is this the guy?

I know people who put "Olympian" on their resume and suck in kids to private coach. It happens more than you think. Surprising that parents do a quick google check.

Not an imposter. I've heard him several times. He's also pretty good friends with Loren Seagrave. Loren will be happy to vouch for him as well.

I don't know his specific resume, but I do know that Coach Johnson has been around for a while as an athlete and coach. I have also heard him speak and he appears to know quite a bit about running. Perhaps you should a done some research before creating this post. -
Loren Seagrave as a reliable source? This guy was fired because he was a liability to LSU. He broke the cardinal sin of coaching. That would be the reason he will never coach at any school again. Complete waste
-
He fell in love with a Black woman - cardinal sin of coaching at LSU.
Why would Seagrave want to coach at a school, when countries hire him? -
The fact that she was black has absolutely nothing to do with it, so don't try to make something out of that. The fact that she was on the team was the problem. I was on that plane flight home to Baton Rouge when Seagrave was crapping in him pants because he knew that the girls boyfriend had found out and was gonna handle some business when they got back from spring break.. Countries hire him, ha ha. He has no choice but to work with athletes over the legal age.. I never doubted the fact that he may be knowledgeable, but I do question his integrity without a doubt.
-
Oh come on, like Loren Seagrave is the only coach to ever sleep with an athlete. I happen to know a certain UCD distance coach slept with a certain star 5000 runner while she was still a student.
-
Have heard him before as well.
Don't know about the accuracy of his bio. No reason to doubt it.
Impression I got:
Has some idea of training theory/physiology, but lacking a good bit.
Could motivate athletes, especially at the H.S. level. Even sub par coaches can win with the right kids and a good attitude.
NOT a clinician. Don't want discount his accomplishments, but just because you have won a bunch of state championships and coach in the NCAA doesn't mean you should be presenting to other coaches. -

The University of Texas track program has no record of employing a Ron Johnson. -
This guy just got fired from his post at the Wisconsin high school he was coaching at.
