He should make a switch to Salazar. Everybody always write bad performance/injury on age, body type or something they think is obvious, still you see guys running near to 100% at the age of 39, and you see guys like Solinsky, Ben True,Alan Webb running well with more muscles. I mean look at Jaouad Gharib, won silver in 2008 Olympics, runs 2:05 at almost 40, and he does not have the elite marathon body type. I really hope Solinsky goes after it for at least 5 more years to see what happens, with Salazar.
Solinski with another DNF

You're unaware that it can't? Sorry dude, somatotype is fixed. Joint capsule size, bone diameter and muscle attachment points remain unchanged regardless of exercise/stretching/steroids/etc.
Flex your bicep and count how many fingers you can place between your bicep and forearm, probably 3 if you're distance running ectomorph. No matter how much lifting and steroids, this will never change, and you will always have a small biceps length and width. Maybe one out of a million (300+) in America have 1 finger or less space between biceps and forearm, without training. Think Arnie. They will always be big, and will easily and quickly get bigger with basic lifting.
what does it mean if you can get all 5 of your fingers in there?
I'm not very up on the science of ectomorphs. -

Doesn't make sense for Ritz to consider tris, but it's hard to believe guys like Solinsky can't see their bodytype for what it is.
You're aware that body type can change, right?

I like Solinsky so much I can spell his name correctly, but he hasn't been the same since Merga mind-fvcked him into the potted plants in Monaco.

he is done, this is the second time he has quite in a race, the other time he got bumped a bit and ran stright off the track into the bushes, hes washed up and no good....
and now he is weak minded in raceing and should retire right away as not to embaress the american names like the great rupp -

Why not start steeplechasing finally?
This is what I have been saying about him and Webb FOREVER. -
Honestly i don't see why he doesn't just go up to the marathon now, assuming he can get big mileage with injury. My first thought may have been for one more year on the track, but honestly his chances are so slim to get the 5k or 10k AR, or make an oly or WC team, that the effort however close he gets would be wasted. Easy base building all spring, up to the mary with a respectable 2:11 debut in chicago, then stay healthy and pull a surprise 2:07 in London next year. He may never do better but it'll offer positive spirits, his fan base, and continued shoe contract for another 3 years. Lets do it Chris.

Did someone link the post-race interview?

Man you have to feel for him. Almost looked in tears as he said "I'm going to get torn apart and that's okay. Those guys don't know what I've been going through the past 3 years." Chris, it's cool, we're rooting for you, man. -
God damn....that interview. He is mentally gone.
-
Perhaps the catastrophic injury that sidelined him has left him with a major imbalance and he may never be able to return to the level he was at. Everything has to be in sync even if you are a world class talent, to be able to run world class times.

I didn't watch the race... did he jump into another potted plant again???
-
He has a lot of press pressure and that is what chewed down Webb. It gets bad. Rupp is the only guy that can manuever through press pressure. Solinsky has some type of attitude as well. Last Fall, some tiny East African bumped into him at a curve in a road race and instead of focusing on the race, he went right after him wasting his energy and losing the race. Doe anyone remember that?

It was indeed Teg. Though it's somewhat similar to when Merga bumped Solinsky and Chris didn't attempt to recover. Though Teg didn't let it get to him. -
I can't even get one finger, same with my hamstrings, muscle runs right up to the joint.
I put on muscle really easy, you might be on to something. -
He will not make it to NYC , its between his ears now , lost his confidence , its a downward spiral of frustration as AW just reminded us all.
He had a good run a great year that excited us all with expectations of what could be. Leave us with that memory not the embarrassment of now. -

I don't know about that. Solinsky moved one of his attachment points and I don't think it was put back in the same place. -
I was at the race....I think he is still struggling with the hamstring. It didn't look right and he didn't look comfortable at all.
