How many out-of-competition tests are carried out on track athletes in Ethiopia annually? I'm genuinely curious. I was browsing the WADA site, but most figures were given on sport specific basis.
Anyone have a link to the numbers?

Sorry, they referred to Sobo's 2:09.7; Dibaba was 2:08.96...still a big change of gear.
You got it better, but still wrong. Maybe you should give it a third try...
What a shame, there has happened a WR in one of the biggest athletics indoor meets, and still one day after the race, it's not possible to get the intermediate times - in the days of the internet.
But we were happy to see some failed or not very important field event attempts. And also Siggie Heinrich - the German Eurosport commentator - should be little bit ashamed of himself. Not realising a WR (by some big margin) at least isn't something he should be very proud of - after almost 25 years commentating of athletics.

WTF!!!!!
They cut to long jump and pole vault during a WR. It was pretty clear this was going to be special early on. What Deutschedouches.
Geez the splits are right here:
http://www.iaaf.org/news/report/genzebe-dibaba-world-indoor-1500m-world-recor
Slovenia’s Sonja Roman took Dibaba through 400m in 1:02.39 and then 800m in 2:08.96, just under a second faster than Soboleva at this stage in proceedings with the Russian having clocked 2:09.7 after four laps of the track, but soon afterwards the Ethiopian hit the front and then it was just a race between her and the clock.
Dibaba, still only 22, went through 1200m in a sizzling 3:10.47, compared to Soboleva’s 3:13.1. After a third 400m of just over 61 seconds, she kept up the tempo all the way to the line.
See kids, it pays to be gracious when in (minor) error, so that your critic can seem all the smaller when he subsequently fumbles in his riposte!

You gotta give credit when credit is due
Ventolin 3 is the only person in this planet who accurately predicted Mo Farah's 3.28 off his world record last lap of 50.9 in Northern England 2 weeks prior to Monaco

Try the GW
Maybe if that doesn't work then try The Blue, best endurance booster in horse racing, I think it is still pretty much undetectable, may even be legal in human sports.
no
that's because his outdoor form was poor
if he'd maintained his indoor shape, i wouda bet good money he wouda been close to mo in monaco - meaning a 3'29-clocking
he is likely better now
from this nonsense, it is clear you don't follow rupp
again clueless
their 10k pbs are within 2s at 26'46+/26'48.0 & in their actual 1500 meeting before, mo barely edged the win 3'34.66 v 3'34.75
anyone who watched it woud have known rupp was very comparable 1500 talent to mo
utter nonsense
the start was too fast at 55.0 when 55-high was slowest expected
he then ran in a virtual vacuum for most of race as there were no "designated" pacers for the 2nd group, only the suicidal pace up front for asbel
mo was running with no help for most of race until the kenyan passed him after the bell & he then had to run wide to pass him
if this had been a paced race for mo alone, with ideal pacing help to the bell, he wouda been looking at 3'27-high/3'28-flat at worst
i doubt anyone woud seriously raise an eyebrow if rupp runs sub-3'30 outdoors, the only question is how much under
i have little doubt he woud like to beat his training partner's pb & he has a damn good chance if he gets the ideal race
err...
what part of 3'50.9i in his 1st serious indoor mile does you brain not comprehend ???
that is faster than likes of baala a 3'28 guy, scott, a 3'47 guy, silas/sydney, both 3'29 guys, caleb, another 3'29 guy
if rupp doesn't go sub-3'30 this year, he will be hugely disappointed
the only question is how far under
it coud be a long way under
just sayin wrote:big chance of another wr for dibaba over 3000m later in the week.
what do ya think ventolin?
8-23?
she already has a 8'26i from last year & she shoud demolish that even if she has dropped her mileage & is training specifically for 1500
i'm sure she's good for 3'53-flat indoors off the uneveness/lack of wabbit to 1200, but the huge unknown is her current basic 400 speed
i can only guess at something indoors of 53/54
so, with 3'53.0i,
53.0i -> 1'55.6 , 2'28.4 , 8'22.0
53.5i -> 1'56.1 , 2'28.8 , 8'20.0
54.0i -> 1'56.6 , 2'29.1 , 8'18.0
the other key is that she's training exclusively for 1500 now ( that's what have to assume with this stunning wr ), so she can't be expected to "last perfectly" over 3k off 1500 training
still, if she gets fast enough even pace to 2k & solo last 1k, i do think she has
~ 8'20
as a target in mind...

Looks like Ventolin has learned to use capital letters
Can you send the link with his prediction as he usually provides 3 lines of fit
ukathleticscoach wrote:Can you send the link with his prediction as he usually provides 3 lines of fit
that's because people have to make up their own mind as to what is most likely line of fit
seeing as we have no idea of diby's current 400i shape, we can only use guesses of 53i/54i from past experience with other athletes
i doubt she has any better basic speed than other elite 1500 gals, just that she tacks on massive endurance onto it
if she told us she ran a fully rested 400i tt of 53.5 a week ago, i'd use it & we'd be down to 1 line...

What a cop out/ So how can you claim to be great at predicting when only one of you lines of fit is right
How is this one working out:
------------------------------
Geb3 coud break 3k/5k WR this year ?
the prelim line of fit i'm drawn to for his current form is
~ 50.9 / 1'47.2 ->
3'30.2
7'20.7 !!
12'39.3 !
20'51.4
26'26.0
he couda already have threatened komen's 3k wr or a sub-12'40 last sunday
he will probably improve by summer
i think komen's 7'20wr will go this year & 50/50 for the 5kwr...
-------------------------------
Yeah thanks for that Ventolin, ... I mean Tony! ;)
thanks to diby as well for making this possible

The same as everywhere else.
http://www.iaaf.org/download/download?filename=ed42193b-f513-4c45-aefd-0de2659b1a6d.pdf&urlslug=The%20IAAF%20Doping%20Control%20Programme%2C%202012%20-%20List%20of%20Tested%20Athletes%20I can't understand how people can think that it's as simple as being in Kenya or Ethiopia to limit your subjection to out of competition testing.
The only difference was that until recently the lack of a regionally available lab made out of competition blood testing impossible, which nearly everyone here read as meaning there was no out of competition testing at all, even though nearly all out of competition testing everywhere else is strictly urine-based. It's as if everyone forgets that Ngugi was banned over 21 years ago for refusing to submit to an out of competition test at his home in rural Kenya.

The only point is that many people just write without thinking just a few seconds about it - probably nowadays more than in the past. Many problems are caused because of that, I think.
I tried to find out Dibabas 800m split, than I saw your post and for sure directly looked at the IAAF page. Dead loss.
I still would like to know her time at 800m - seems to be impossible.
