I get your qualms about the standards of a "competitive" state, but, for arguments sake, I think when sticking with the parameters that OP gave as "something like 10.7-8 for the 100, all the way up to 9:10 or so for the 3200" Rudisha or Symmonds or Aman would be better for covering all those distances. While I defintely think even a strength based 400m runner would be better for 100/200 races, he's probably not going 910. Whereas in comparison, Symmonds is what a 335(?) 1500 guy? Im willing to be he would crush in 800 and up. But Im willing to bet he can do at least 46mid open 400? I cant recall any of his 400 times off the top of my head. But then the problem is 100/200 now as a trade off...
Yes, I figure those are good times (maybe even higher for the 2-mile). Symmonds ran 47.x, Duane Solomon would be a better choice but still wouldn't win the 100/200. I think if Curtis Beach (whose best event is 400) can run 3:59 for 1500, someone who is better at 400 (not a 200/400 runner) would run better at the mile, potentially good enough to win state, and maybe win the 2-mile in at least some states. Someone posted the tempo runs Michael Johnson used to do... if they're true he could have certainly won 100 through 2-mile.
