If Galen breaks El G world record I'll know for sure he is dirty.
If he finishes 0.01 outside of it, will that be ok?

Hahaha... Good one, no I will still think he is dirty. But like I said in a post before my judgement isn't always the best, I believed in Lance till the day he confessed so I can be wrong the other way around about Rupp being dirty, but I'm highly skeptical. My comments can also a bit biased, I've met Abdul Kaba (El G coach) and I'd like to see his name a bit longer in the record books...
Millrose has a bunch of high school events after the Wanamaker Mile. Galen won't be able to do his planned 8x1 mile post-race workout at the Armory facility.

Unfortunate but True wrote:World Records are rarely set in competitive events due to a variety of factors like jostling, race tactics, etc...World Records or American Records are generally carefully orchestrated events where the athlete attempting the record is shepherded and protected by the pacers until about 60-70% of the race is complete. Since WR's and AR's are not easy to accomplish almost everything has to go right on the record attempt day. To run the WR/AR attempt at Milrose would likely hurt Galen's chances of setting the record.
Bayi seemed to run okay in a competitive race.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvKX22TOCCAoh ya and so did the rest of the field.
That Bayi race is 40 years old and we still watch it. If Galen sets the record in a time trial, no one will remember it 2 years from now. There is amazing potential for the sport to be extremely exciting right now. We've got several North Americans who can compete with the Africans and yet we never get to watch it. It's like we are watching Spring Training and Pre Season games all year round. Who cares. I'd rather watch a footrace any day over a time trial. Watch that Bayi race. He goes out in 1:51 in order to WIN the race. Exciting stuff. It's too bad we've lost so many of the those hardcore runners of the past.
Because Boston is where his marathon debut will be.

I also wanted to note that in both of those races the front runner held off the closing chaser and won the race.
Those were outdoor events on full sized tracks, and set up for record attempts.
That's because unlike letsrun, Flotrack have no concern for the sport outside of America. They struggled to pronounce Kenenisa Bekele.
Genzebe Dibaba set her world record today in Germany with a 13 second victory. Rare is the time that there will be a close fight all the way to the finish in a distance world record. And very rare indeed does it happen at the Olympics in the modern era. Rudisha did it at 800m. Prior to that, the 800m world record had not been set in a big meet since some time before Coe in 1981, maybe even back to Herb Elliot?? Ngeny chased El G in the mile and Lagat (3:26.3) chased El G in a 3:26 race (maybe not the record but a subsequent one close to it), but at any rate, Rupp does not duck competition. This is his season for records. And as they thought he was getting close to that kind of shape, it was worth it to them to have him wait a week, instead of going after the record and then running Millrose a week later. Nevertheless, you will see him at the U.S. champs in March and presumably World's if he is not sick at Albuquerque as happened before.

nothing's worse than setting a record and LOSING -- in other words you might end up setting SOMEONE ELSE up to set the record.
Who would do such a thing?

Now, if they were interested in taking track and field to the new level, which I think they are based on all this flotrack coverage
Let's see at least ONE world record before we drool about "taking track and field to the new level," mmmkay?

Let's go further. Why not move the Millrose to Boston?
if you are trying to run a fast as you can you go to the fastest track/conditions you can
It spretty simple really
