The material point is this; Women's distance running in the USA is about to enter the new Golden Age with stars like Cain and Efraimson emerging. This will easily surpass the Mary Decker/Slaney era. It will be great!

I dont get the brojo's claiming she's better at longer distance because of an outdated 2:07 p.r. , she went agianst two stronger runners than here and was nearly dropped before kicking like boss. I think she is suited to be a miler or mile/5k thing. What is it with thinking every good womans distance runner should be a 10k runner.

Also this will not be Alexa's first race of the season. She is in the fast section of the women's 3k at UW. This will help give a better picture at the kind of shape she is in.
9:00.16, Well?
Her 9:00 certainly changes everything. I'm quite impressed by this girl due to the fact that she has a 2:07 PR and 4:16 PR from her Soph year. With the way she has improved over 3k in the past year I would think she is currently capable of running 2:05 and 4:30-33 for the mile?
Will she go Pro early? She is already getting into the range of what Cain was running early least year and this was her first race as well. She is getting to the point of being better the almost every collegian. Where are these girls coming from?!
As far as Millrose goes, I think it will be pretty tactical for people like Cain and others but still around 2:17 at halfway which will be perfect for Efraimson. I think the winning time will be around 4:28 and Efraimson will run 4:33 because she isn't as strong over the last 400.

What does that even mean? No one is any more or less stronger over the last 400 than anyone else. You only have a kick if you've been running allowed than your max ability. If the race is slow enough, Efraimson will look just as good over the final lap.

-Huh? You mean everyone is going to have equal strength and energy going into the last 400? Fascinating.

Looking good and feeling good are 2 vastly different things. That doesnt mean she can kick with the big boys after running a hard 1200m. Also, it's Millrose, the pace is not going to be slow
Efraimson is a very strong young woman. If the women try jostling her ... well that might not be a good idea. Sub 4:30 possible.
maybe, but unlikely wrote:

Why is that fascinating? It was a simple comment. Yes, that's exactly what I mean. If the pace is slow enough, then everyone will have a kick. You can't just say that someone is or isn't as strong without mentioning a pace.
Millrose could easily be slow. That's the way many races are these days. Did you miss the 5:00+ minute indoor mile from nationals last year?
Pretty sure Cain is going for the WJR, with a pacer. Alexa should be gunning for sub-4:30. It will be fast, but Alexa should pick off a pro or two.
