In the case of slavery and murder, one party does not have choice - s/he cannot break the contract.
In the case of prostitution between an adult freelancer and a client, there is no coercion, no exploitation, no intermediaries. The service provider can quit anytime.
Why does the idea of a person selling his/her sexuality make you so uncomfortable?
If you think the prostitution system is only full of "freelancers," you need to read up on human trafficking. And if you think slavery was always and only lifelong, race-based indenturement, you need to read a history book.
Uncomfortable? Any human being who has an ounce of empathy about other human beings should be concerned about human trafficking. It's the modern slave system, but mostly underground and not merely outside the U.S.
