interesting poll idea, who on lets run believes he did it, i for one....do.
Let's see here. They found his DNA at the murder scene. They found a bloody shoe print at the murder scene that just happened to be his shoe size. Oh, and it was a rare Italian brand as well that he just happened to own. I think the cops were carrying around his DNA (how did they get it? Why, the Columbian drug lords of course) and a size 9 Brunno whatever in the hell it is Italian shoe just in case Nicole Simpsom just happened to get murdered so that they could frame OJ.
Yep, fits my definition of reasonable doubt.
He did it -- there is no way all of that could be planted, and there is no way a vast conspiracy like the defense alleged could have worked. I read the book Ron Goldman's dad wrote, and in it he says that during closing arguments the attorneys in the civil case brought up this board containing dozens of names of all the people involved, from cops to lawyers to Kato. The point was to show that if it was this big frame job or conspiracy to get OJ that all of the people listed would have to have been in cahoots for it to have worked. Many of the people listed had never even met, and there was no way all of these people could have gotten together and cooked up the same exact story. It was really interesting.
Fact is, they had more evidence that they could shake a stick at, the prosecution was just outplayed by the defense.
If the glove doesn't fit, you must acquit.
That case was lost as soon as the jury was selected. They wouldn't have convicted him if there was a video of OJ doing it, the knife with his bloody fingertips on it and him standing on the defense table admitting it.
Simple.
When the defense has no realistic case, the prosecution goes on trail. In a nutshell, that is what happened.
Remember during the trial there was a letter in, I believe, the NY Times by a juror sitting on the trial of a black man accused of murder. She (he?) said the jury knew the defendant was guilty but they weren't going to send another young black man to prison.
I really think black people look at it as a black vs. white issue. It was OJ vs. the white system. The Man if you will. Polls show that 85% or so of black people feel OJ is innocent and 85% or so of white people feel he did it.
A tape has surfaced that might send OJ to jail in a 2nd trial if turned over to authorities. The content of the tape: The 1st trial.
Acting on a tip, O.J. is on Florida golf courses every day searching for the "real killers." Rumor has it the real killers have put together a foursome and has a 2:30 tee time at El Pollo del Mar Country Club in West Palm Beach.
Good luck, Juice.
I'm innocent DAMNIT!!!!!!!
If anything, OJ's trial showed that money matters far more than race. If he didn't have millions to spend on his defense, he'd be on death row. If he was white and didn't have millions to spend on his defense, he'd be on death row. He's living proof that money talks.
He didn't have millions to spend on his defense. He still owes them.
.....and the glove did fit. Anyone can fake a struggle to put on a fitted glove and act like it is hard to put on. Did not fool me.
trackhead what you just wrote is sooo ridiculous. Are you really that stupid? He got off just as the previous poster posted because of the jury selection. Why be such a dumbass?
not sure why this thread is even on letsrun.com, but since it is, here is my input. i attend law school in los angeles, so my professors love to talk about this case (a lot of them got tv time during it, so they like to fondly remember their moment in the sun).
i admit that i haven't read any books, nor do i know any intimate details of the trial. this is all secondhand info. my understanding is that OJ was tried for 1st degree murder, and only 1st degree murder. in order for the prosecution to convict for that crime, they have to prove that OJ planned to kill Nicole/Ron and that he had the intent to do so (words like "purpose", "malice aforethought", "knowledge" are also used to describe what they have to prove).
in order for OJ to refute this charge, all his lawyers have to do is raise a reasonable doubt as to this one element - what is called the mens rea. there is a very plausible argument based on the facts that what really happened is OJ went over to her apt to slash her tires, when he saw Nicole with Ron he freaked and then he killed them both. If this is what really happened, the case would be a fight over OJ's mens rea, not over whether he did it or not. If the defense could show that it wasn't planned, that he acted in a state of rage, the crime would be either 2nd degree murder or manslaughter.
i am not saying that the jury necessarily believed this story, just saying that the result may have actually been the proper legal result.
on other thing - before a CA lawyer comes on and corrects my exact statements of CA criminal law, i will acknowledge that i don't know the exact details of CA criminal law (you would think that is something you learn at law school, but it is not). if my details are off (for example, on the terms used to describe manslaughter), my overall point remains the same - OJ may have committed manslaughter instead of first degree murder, and if the prosecution didn't give the jury the option to find that he committed manslaughter, it was a tactical error on their part and the jury may well have decided correctly from a legal standpoint.
Great point!
Too bad this was never raised in the trial. You really think those dumbasses on the jury would have been able to decipher that charge?
Suggestion: Stay in school. Read a couple of books.
Great book on the case and all the prosecution foul-ups was written by Vincent Bugliosi, the guy that successfully prosecuted Charles Manson (which was an extremely touchy case). I'm spacing the name of the book right now, sorry. Most bookstore have it around, though.
Yeah I killed the bitch, so what?
Its not like she didn't have it coming spending all my money. Couldn't even hold down a job, spending all day working out and then going out at night spending more of my money on cocaine and tequila and screwing every other guy in Brentwood.
And as far as the other punk he shouldn't have been showing off driving all over town in MY car. All you pussies sit around dreaming about killing your ex-wives, I did something about it!
I don't know why you all just don't get over it and move on. Especially the Brown family after all I've done for them
They can take away my mansion and my Heisman trophy but one thing they can't take and that's my world record in the 440 yard relay baby!
Peace and hair grease,
