Rupp is not a miler. However, I'm wondering if he will break the world record in the mile. That is nuts. His progression is like no one elses. There are two possibilities.
1) Coach Salazar has figured out something no one else has.
2) Rupp is doping.

I was trying to come up with everything that falls under #1.
No one else does the workouts after races. That goes under #1.
Rupp never gets hurt. That could because of all of the anti-gravity and underwater treadmills. That falls into #1.

Consistent gradual improvement and high level of focus on staying healthy seems to be Salazar's key for Rupp. Rupp never overreaches, unlike most runners at that level, so he is finally knocking on the door of WRs. Also, pushing the legal grey area as much as possible doesn't hurt. I'm quite certain that some of what Rupp/Salazar does, medicinally, is performance enhancing, but it's not illegal.
