Drunk at 8:15 in the morning?
By the way, not that this matters, but a woman running 3:05 is NOT a jogger.

Oh my God, oh my God. Ban doctors. Ban drinking. Ban cars. They all kill people! People are dying. When will we come to our senses and eliminate these senseless tragedies?!

People who own cars are heartless murderous monsters. They don't need cars. They can walk or ride a bike. They are so selfish, we need to be more like the Chinese and ride bicycles everywhere.
We will ban all automobiles! This I promise.
I heard about this. Very sad news.
Can we blame this on illegal immigrants somehow?
The Boston part is irrelevant as is the running.

I doubt much happens to this fine doctor, except maybe a few days in jails so the judge can make it look like he/she is imposing some sort of justice, in the event of a conviction. The American justice system is all about the money and who you hire in your defense. The only only way money loses is when bigger money is involved.
This is Obama's fault. More blood on his hands.

+1
Clearly another Obamacare induced debacle. When will you socialists learn?
A lot of angles to this story. The DUI doctor was awarded $20M in a lawsuit after his own wife was killed in a automobile crash in 2006. The runner/victim's husband is a policeman who does DUI enforcement and outreach.
As I've consistently said, you can NEVER protect yourself against drunk drivers or distracted drivers or just people who don't see you.
These sad stories do not have to continue. The a$$hole drunk driver gets all the blame, but that's not enough to bring this runner back.
Running on roads with traffic is suicide.

Running on roads with traffic is not suicide and saying so does infer that this runner is at blame for her death. Thousands of people run on roads all over the world every day without getting killed. Unless you can prove otherwise, we should assume that the odds of getting killed by a car while running are minuscule.
Doctor granted bond.
Doctor has leukemia & is currently undergoing chemo. I wonder how that mixes with alcohol?

1) No one gets killed by a car running where there aren't cars.
2) Runners getting killed by cars happens a LOT more than you and most runners think.
3) A small chance of getting killed or not, this is a risk that is completely avoidable, and not only that, but it should be desirable. Who the hell wants to run and breathe all that car exhaust on a road anyway?
Running on roads is stupid. No two ways about it. Blame goes to drunk and distracted drivers, but as I said before, that doesn't bring a dead runner back.

So you keep saying but I've yet to see you produce any statistics to back it up
Shut up you mewling, pedantic blowhard.
How often does it happen? The fact that something occurs does not make it common when you're talking about millions of people. To call this suicide is really offensive, Flagpole.
It's also not safe to run on trails because you could slip and fall and not be found for days. Or coyotes/cougars or bears could get you. Or a hunter might mistake you for a deer wearing technical clothing. Or a snowmobile or ATV could hit you. If you run on bike paths some Lance wannabe is going to take you out.
I wonder where Flagpole expects the average runner actually run.
Sidewalks seem to be unheard of in many places but even then drunks drivers regularly plough into people that are not even on the road.

1) Millions of people are NOT running on the roads. The vast majority of runners do not do this anymore.
2) If I have to be the beacon of truth with regard to this dangerous activity and somehow somewhere down the line it keeps someone from not losing their life in this manner, then I will gladly take it on.
I can understand how people might disagree with me here, but I honestly don't understand the hatred I get because of this stance of mine. Seems weird.
