Solid effort. That's 459.5 per mile.
Do you have a sponsor? We demand the right to match any others you get as a result of this.[/quote]
I fully expect this result to triple current sponsorship by years end.
Would be happy to discuss further details with you.

Deductive reasoning isn't your strong suit.
RunningwithScissors is in the orange, because he says he won and he is leading in the pictures. The OP is in the taller of the two guys in black. The post says he was second and he is second in the pictures. I assume you can figure out the third guy with the colorful shorts is? (I forget his screen name.)
Nice work to all competitors and supporters. Love this concept. Merry Christmas to all.

Yes, that, or I took a glance at the one picture with all three running and didn't notice all 3. But thanks.
thanks for showing up guys, this was fun.
what i learned is that 1/3 letsrunners apparently are as fast as we think.
poor race for me, didnt stick on OP when i should have, as i knew that getting 2nd vs 3rd really made no difference.
and yeah i was the guy with the colorful shorts (found on runningwarehouse.com)
I'll add to the chorus on what a cool idea this is. And let's see, if I followed correctly, the first challenge drew 2 competitors and the second one drew three racers, an increase of ~33%.
At that rate, this "event" will begin drawing hundreds of runners in no time!
Can't waif until the OP is in the Portland, OR. area.

portlanders don't run with people. there will be plans made, but everyone (except the OP) will have an excuse and back out at the last minute. was told upon arrival to portland several years ago, "welcome to portland; everyone runs, no one wants to run with you."
great idea, great execution.
sorry I didn't realize I could have raced the op in eugene in October when I was still healthy. Incidentally, I saw plenty of runners in groups when I ran in Forest Park in Portland before heading to the airport on that trip.

Hmm, don't know what part of Portland you run in, but I'm running WITH other runners every day of the week. Come out to the Starbucks on NW Overton & 23rd any Sunday at 8:30am and you'll have a decent group to run 12+ miles with. Start tomorrow.
Come to Duniway track any Tuesday evening at 6:00pm. There will be dozens of other runners to do a track workout with.
Come to the Fulton Pub every Wednesday at 6:00pm. There will be several runners to cover 6 miles with.
It's up to YOU if you want to take the invitation. See you tomorrow? Or just want to spout false claims?

Nice galaxy print boas. That's my own personal favorite pair of running shorts. :) Great race everyone! This concept is awesome! I'd join in if the races were more like 10 miles - half marathon, but i'm sure to get my @ss kicked at this short stuff.
Glad this was a success, thanks again all 4 guys for coming out. Perfect way to split up a 14-hour drive.
I don't have much to add to what the other two competitors said, especially since I am wacked out on cold medicine and have been up for over 20 hours. Just wanna say I hope other people do the same thing...I am not the key ingredient! Especially now that everyone knows my talent level, the surprise might be gone if I were to do one of these again.
imarunr, I am in Portland all the dang time; I didn't even think of doing this up there since I don't think of heading up there as a "trip". Maybe sometime soon...
Raptured, where do you live? We don't know each other's 10M ability, this could be good.

I'll take it this post means you made it to SoCal? That's one long drive. Good run today. I can't imagine waking up a 3am, driving 7 hours straight, racing a bunch of random strangers, then driving 7 more hours straight. A hell of a day indeed.
If I pull a kip Litton
we need to do this in so cal for 25:00 5Kers. i'm so in.

Actually this is an increase of 50%. However, had last year's race drawn 3 competitors and this year's only 2, this would have represented a 33.3% decrease.
Always base percentile changes on the initial value, not the final value.

Is that a capital city marathon jersey I see?
Great thread OP.
Got me thinking that there should be a website that allows prop bets at races between friends or other anonymous racers. Not sure of the legality of that, but it could be fun to put some added excitement on the run. Imagine a forum where you could set up small races like this one to put beer money on, or large races like the Boston Marathon.
Interesting concept that could spice things up.

If the Sac race falls thru or if you feel like doubling up on races tomorrow, then I will race you, LetsRace.com.
I live in Martinez, about 15 miles east of San Francisco (or 60 miles west of Sacramento). There's a loop on the Martinez Shoreline which would make a perfect 6K course (2 loops).

I live in Martinez also. This course would be perfect for a race. I thought I was the only one from Martinez who posted here.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
