About 8 years ago, My son and I were riding Amtrak from Denver to Oakland, and right in Roseville, the train ran over a hobo on the tracks. Delayed our trip by 3 or 4 hours. Tough to explain the situation to a seven year old.
So, if in your post race exhaustion, you need to lie down-don't do it on a railroad track-unless the California Zephyr has already passed for the day.
Does anyone in California want to race me this Saturday, December 21st?

We can decide on the line. Clockwise will be easier...

I'll do it if you aren't some creepy rapist. I hail from the bay area. I'll meet you at Hayward HS in Hayward CA whenever you're down.

Other than the reference to last year's event everything about this thread occurs on the west coast. When the hell does noon mean 9AM except to the geocentric idiots on the east coast? -

Good weather and good crowd. Great idea OP. This event reminded me of the Inaugural DT Downhill Mile, another letsrun.com grassroots event I had the privilege of attending back in the day. -
this Letsrace.com concept would make a good national/regional racing circuit. Low budget, competitive racing.

2.22 mile loop was successful. My watch read about 11:05, I believe OP said he was around 11:35? and itsmemario 5-10 seconds back from him?
Packed up initially, OP threw a couple of downhill jabs, and then the break occurred around mile 1.
Good times, looking forward to drinking the Eugene Brews. -
So upset that I didn't read this thread earlier. I would have shown up and raced for sure since I live 10 minutes away from the park. Guess I will just have to buy beer tonight
-
Glad you guys had a good race and thanks for sharing.

I am a little disappointed by the female turnout in terms of the crowd. Advertisers love women and sort of like a bar, the letsrun.com messageboard thrives on guys who think somehow think running will help them get a woman. If this is exposed as a lie, then the site will crumble.

Solid effort. That's 459.5 per mile.
