The Utah job seems to be taking forever. Has someone turned it down and they are back to the drawing boards? With two male coaches on staff my guess is they are trying to find a woman?
I have seen on this thread that some positions are asking for females only. Is there some sort of NCAA rule where they must have a female on staff and they are looking to fill that quota? Or is it just the preference of the head coach?
Houle isn't looking for a job. The ND thing was just a special situation. He is heavily committed to SUU and SUU is heavily committed to him.
Is it illegal for a school to make it known that they are filling the position with a female? Coaches often make this known to applicants. What would the reprucussions be (if any) if some dude got tired of it all and spoke up against such sexism?

No coach hiring in their right mind would tell any candidate they are hiring a specific sex......they would run too high of a risk for law suit.
If they did, they are complete morons for opening their mouth and that type of loose mouth will not keep you coaching for long.
If I was told I didn't get a job due to my sex, male or female I would insta-sue. Period.
It's not happening..... But we all know it's an unspoken thing....AD's like diversity and coaches like to keep their jobs.

Speaking as a female, having an all-male coaching staff in a role that is both physical, psychological and social in nature and involves working one-to-one five to seven days per week, including over night trips… having a same-sex coach on staff is necessary to the point of being legally mandated.
Ask yourself how you male athletes would regard an all-female coaching staff for a full male squad.

The need for a staff that is representative of both genders is because both genders provide different strengths and perspectives. Not because you need a female to protect the females on overnight trips. As a male coach of females I am offended by people like you and other females should be offended by you as well. They don't need a female coach to be their security guard against the male coaches. If you think females are not just as guilty of inappropriate relationships in this sport you haven't been in this business very long.
I know of at least one B1G female assistant coach that has had an inappropriate sexual relations with one of her former female athletes. It happens a lot.
Any word on the Duke job?
back to jobs, any New England insiders know about UMass Lowell or UMaine?
There is no rule or legal mandate stating a female must be on staff. From 2010 NCAA study I would estimate women make up about 25% of all track and field full time coaching positions, that means 75% of ft track jobs are filled by men.

There is no news yet. BO said they have an impressive candidate list and KJ is still guiding the team in the interim.
I said nothing about security. Or protection.
They have already had some candidates on campus and finishing this week.
Interesting...Hartman's done a nice job in a short amount with limited of scholarships. Is he going somewhere or are they putting more emphasis on the distances?
Any news on Illinois College's director of T&F position? Seems like a great job. Their facilities are some of the best in the country. Haven't heard anything since the job was posted.
They just hired a new AD who started on July 7. That's my guess as to why there hasn't been much news yet on that one yet.
