No, Ralph Lindeman is is the head coach at Air Force and if anything he is a multi events guy. I am not close with the program but from what I can tell Air Force honestly tries to be competitive in every event group. The have more success in some events due to the nature of the school (tough admission standards, mandatory military service) but it seems like the distances are usually strong there.
Anyone actually know what is going on there? I don't know Collins, but it would be surprising to me if Air Force went with a coach who has one year of collegiate coaching experience. Seems more likely that Collins would be retained as an assistant distant like he was before.
as much as I wish it was Carol Smith Gilbert, i doubt she leave USC for Tenn. Had it happened a year ago, she would be the candidate. I think the only head coach that could be in knox interviewing is shelia burell or Greg Kraft
Shelia would be in over her head. she needs to qualify more athletes then two to a national championship before she takes on this kind of responsibility. especially since her last few national championships haven't been coached by her. Give her a few years and she'll be ready for the SEC.
Greg Kraft use to be in the SEC, is he ready to come back? I thought he was close to retiring. Who else from the west coast would come?
I would love to see Amy Deem get a shot.
Cmon guys Not leaving Az for Tenn . Hello its cold in Tenn plus Az they will pay him just as mucc or close to what eva tenn would offer
If tenn hires a female to coach a combined program that would be great. But she better wear a jock to work because the sec is the most ruthless conf in american. Don't care how good of a coach u r its all about recruiting and them boys don't play fair
sounds like some of the names mentioned fit that billing pretty well
The Air Force has been making budget cuts (as has our entire government, that's not a secret) so the Academy has been pressured to make cuts on its athletic programs and the Cross Country program is a target along with a couple others.
No because if they did they would be top 15 programs now on a regular . Smith yes the others 30-70 chance
Anyone know anything about possible transfers out of Air Force? I'm interested to see if Zach Perkins or Patrick Corona will look to transfer
Whoever coaches Tenn will probably be from a major program. Personally I'd like to see a high school coach get it.
I still believe it for now. I could see an announcement happening this week.

I shouldn't speak for the athletes on the AFXC squad, but you don't transfer out of Air Force just because of a coaching change. One of the athletes in question can't leave because of the service commitment that begins in the third year of school.
Air Force takes character development seriously. Who ever the coach next year, I am sure they will be a stand up person who can also develop athletes.
Because Air Force's previous coach really displayed a lot of commitment to her athletes
An old buddy of mine went on a coaching interview at a well known, chronically underachieving, New England, land grant university and the majority of the interview was conducted at a diner. Can't say I was surprised when the job & the program turned out to be a total s***show.
I once went on a job interview unrelated to sports, it was at a diner...

nope
Please do tell, why in the world would you want to see a high school coach get a head coaching job in the SEC of all places?

why not? dont tell me you actually feel a coach can't pick up the nuances of recruiting and paperwork relative to collegiate athletics within a week or two. There's winning coaches out there who have won multiple state titles. Go ahead and hire a college coach that hasn't won a national championship and hope they know the way. At least a hs champ knows how to win relative to their level. That carries over.
Wow, someone obviously has no clue to what being a director of a major program entails. It is TOTALLY different coaching high school than college. I have coached both. Not at all the same.
