North Central varsity runs around 60 miles per week. In the summer there may be a runner that hits 70, but that is only a couple weeks at most. Kai may be on the lower end since he wasnt able to run until August.

He looked so relaxed and fast that last mile. True domination.
I was impressed. That was the definition of JFM relaxed

Ah, we know better than that now don't we. More like 80-90 from late Aug thru Sept.

While there certainly are some high-mileage programs out there, North Central isn't one of them. The trend in Washington is actually moderate mileage (I know that is the case for North Central and Kamiakin, though I'm not sure what kind of mileage, workouts or volume they run at Seattle Prep or Gig Harbor).
What about Borderclash? Did everyone else jog that too? I'm not saying Maton will win (I'm also not saying he won't) but to not mention him as one of the favorites is ludicrous.

Hard to say who took Borderclash seriously. However, I certainly agree, Maton should be one of the favorites. All he's done is win.
Hopefully these guys will match up at Arcadia.
Picture Hardy v Dressel v Anderson v Wilmot v Maton v the Gig Harbor guys at the fastest invite in the nation. And those are only the top guys from the northwest. That would be siiiiick. The Washington State track meet will be bannanas this year. It's just exciting to see what crazy talent is being cultivated out there.
The mile at Pasco and the 2 mile at Shoreline will be sick.

Addison Dehaven, 2nd in FL MW came in 17th yesterday...
Pretty safe to say that nobody from the MW would beat Wilmot right now.
Any other FL stars got crushed yesterday?
So the boys race was pretty competitive. Better than FL? Probably not, but...
Ben Barrett, 6th in south FL was 105th yesterday... (that seems way off however)...
This guy sounds like a fan favorite. He came off as well-likeable, humble, and he was straight up grinning as he was pulling away. I think that's awesome. Also being the underdog makes it an even better story.
is that a kenyan name?

That's the official mileage your quoting. Doesn't include the "off campus" mileage (i.e., 5 mile night runs several times a week) that doesn't get reported. A lot more common than you realize.
Taylor "Kai" Wilmot is a pretty white name. Unless you're trolling, which would make sense.

It's the "Kai" part that threw him. Not that dissimilar from Bekele.
The more I look at the FL finalists, the more I think that Wilmot may be better than all of them.
He beat the MW FL #2 and #3 who finished 17th and 13th respectively (20 to 24 seconds behind Wilmot)
He beat the South FL #6 and #9, who finished 105th and 39th respectively (very far behind Wilmot)
If I look at the NE finalist (none of which were at NXN I believe), none of them have anything on Wilmot.
...maybe the West, but again, it's not clear.
Maybe the best HS XC runner ran yesterday...
We will never know for sure...
