Lukas may not make the team, but I don't think it will be because of a lack of drive or focus. I can't even imagine going through what he went through to rehab past the injuries he sustained. just guessing, but I'd think the rehab would be evidence of a fair degree of those attributes. Of course, doesn't really matter what we think...its solely up to him. At some point some of you guys need to realize that the person who thinks they can accomplish a goal, and the person who doesn't think they can, are both right. Chasing the goal is the victory...otherwise what's the point of competing for the other 99.9999% of us who love to compete but aren't quite up to making the Oly team?[/quote]
One of the first intelligent posts I've read in this thread. Who are any of us to say he can't/won't return to his prior fitness? Do any of you cretans know what its like to lose mobility? For a World Champion in any sport outside, of pocket billiards, to lose the ability to walk for any period of time is devastating. Are his goals unrealistic in the here and now, probably. However, with the talent LV displayed at such a young age focusing on anything but the end goal (olympic games, world championships) more than likely is a hinderance not a benefit. The kid and soon to be man needs support, not hate. I sincerely hope that if any of you message board trolls get severely injured, people around you have a lot more grace than you have displayed here.
