True, but it's a slippery slope.
Seconding this one. Pretty sure the head coach of my college team straight-up told one of the girls she needed to go on a diet. She was not fat at all.

Some of the worst running advice I've ever gotten:
"You should never run more than 45 minutes straight. Your body doesn't get any added benefit from the extra time spent and it actually hurts your fitness."-some crossfit coach
"You don't need to run that many miles a week. If you can out lift a runner, you can out run a runner." - same guy as before and I was only up to 40mi per week max at the time
"Yeah, core and weights aren't important."
4:30 marathoner MD at Hospital for Special surgery in NYC - "never run 60 miles per week or more again!!!"
I slowly worked my way back to 80mpw without issues. Time will tell if 20-30 years from now I drop dead from higher miles

"You looked great in that half. You should try a full marathon!"
A year later I ran a marathon, at age 34, and I haven't really run ever since. I've been fighting injuries ever since. And I was 100% healthy for 12 years prior.
Poor training and poor ancillary activities have nothing to do with trying the marathon.

Recommending the Toronto Waterfront Marathon as the top marathon to run in Canada. What a colossal disappointment.
Really? What was your problem with it? And which would you say is better?
Always go for a run the day after running a marathon.
"All you need to do is sprint as hard as you can at the start, get in the front and don't let anyone pass you." - Mom
Don't lose sight of the leaders
Runnings bad for your knees
This ones good...have been at top of heartbreak hill watching
It's all downhill
Usually the people I know who finish all complain about the last 6 miles being downhill
Your uterus will fall out
"You race too much" - Dad
I race 3-4 times per year, and nothing longer than a half marathon.
Run Faster.
If you are a woman, "go run for Oregon"
During a recent XC race someone yelled to me "drop the hammer". So I did. Damn hammer landed on my toe, broke it, and now I can't run.
I'll be here all week. Try the veal.
Before my first marathon (1982); fellow accomplished runner: "If you can run 13 miles, you can finish cuz of all the excitement of the day."
Not.
Came form the pole vault coach in Indoor Track in high school. There was only one more meet left and the last couple had been mediocre for me. "Rest up this next week, don't do anything too strenuous, and go out with a bang!" I didn't listen to him and had a bad last race but it was definitely because I had lost fitness rather than being overtrained. So he should have said the opposite.
'ppreciate it,
Greg

I was a 17-year-old with PRs of 1:59 and 4:04, and I was advised to go pro.
