No, you guys got it all wrong. This proves again the Kenyan's can't sprint.

100 C is 212 F. No wonder the cheetahs were tired.

Yep very interesting. The article says they chased the Cheetahs for 6.4km. In conditions that are probably 100 degrees Celsius. Impressive.

They will overheat and suffer brain death. They have no way of cooling the blood supply to their brains, unlike many of their prey animals.

So why didn't they die?
they stopped.

Please see post by "I know its water".
Then, try to keep up.

In other words their brains don't actually overheat because they stop first. That's their brain cooling mechanism.
Expecting a Front Page headline tomorrow on LRC demanding the cheetahs be released until the goatherders have passed 3 full rounds of doping tests.
Um, no, not 100 degrees celsius...that would shatter the all time high temperature on earth...maybe 45 or 50....

I'm more impressed that none of the farmers killed the cheetah and they handed it over to the Wildlife Service.
This makes me so proud. Farmers all over the world instinctively try to kill predators that prey on their livestock. Congrats to the Kenya Wildlife Service for successfully educating these communities that wildlife benefits them too.
The farmer is seeking reimbursement for the goats, which is why he didn't kill the cheetah.

Cheetahs are the fastest animal on earth for only a few seconds. They are built for short bursts of speed and must stop quickly because they will overheat and need to breathe. The SUCK at long distances and keeping cool. Humans on the other hand, can sweat and go long distances at slow speeds. We basically outclass cheetahs in every way in this regard.
Look up the definition of a few
If you put a cheetah is a straightline it could last 800m they usually stop earlier because they will not waste energy once the race is lost
One one on a healthy adult cheetah now way are you catching it over 4 miles
Type in 4 seconds over 100m into McMillan and see if we really outclass cheetahs. Its horses for courses and over a long distance try putting a human up against an antelope

I would be calling BS. However, your post bears only a vague resemblance to the English language so I am not really sure what you are trying to say.
The pronghorn, though it is not an antelope, has been known to travel 800 miles in less than a day.
They can run so fast because they used to be hunted by cheetah-like cats which went extinct.
Are any of these Kenyans of valid NCAA recruiting age?

1) 800 miles in less than a day is pure, unadulterated BS. You're telling me that these guys ran 40 MPH for 20 hours straight?!? BS. BS. BS
Who was chasing them? Who documented this?
BS BS Squared BS to the n
2) The single or even primary cause of pronghorn's running abilities was predation by the North American cheetah? Sheer speculation.
What percentage of pronghorn deaths were caused by cheetahs before the cheetah's extinction? How long were the chases in which cheetahs preyed upon pronghorns? What were the running capabilities of the pronghorns' other predators.
BS layered upon BS covered with BS.
And this is coming from a big fan of the pronghorn on a day when I am feeling particularly generous.
pronghorns can go 60mph
60mph x 24h = 1440 miles/day.
Taking into account they have to stop and rest, that's about 1000 miles, realistically, for a well-trained pronghorn.

Yes, overheating is the key to hunting in Africa. Humans can outrun ANY animal because they can pace themselves and the animals overheat. That is one reason that africans are so good at running is that their ancestors were doing it for thousand of years.
Actually those ancestors are also the ancestors of every human alive today so that can't be why. Maybe East Africans are still good at running because they never left the Rift Valley vicinity and have continued to cover long distances on foot through the generations.
