I decided to just chill, listen to Nickelbag and smoke doobies. Haven't accomplished squat.
Any more updates on this? This thread taught me a lot about coding and good sources from which to learn more.
Alternative suggestion, even though it is too late for your initial time frame:
Teach yourself how to trade options and generate options premium income over the course of your lifetime by selling options with defined risk trades.
Books:
1) Larry McMillan, "Options as a Strategic Investment"
2) Sheldon Natenberg, "Option Volatility & Pricing"
Good luck!
So how did this go? Any tips? I'm about to start something like this. I'll have from mid-December until mid-July to do anything I choose.

So how did this end up?

Hey all,
I did go the programming route. Learned front end development and would call myself now an amateur full stack programmer.
My biggest hurdle was getting over the naysayers that said jobs were being outsourced and automated and wages were dropping as immigrants willing to work for pennies on the dollar increasingly took jobs.
Also what stopped my initially were people saying that new grads would work for peanuts and there is no way of getting in as an older (in my case mid 30s) guy.
Doesn't seem that way at all. I spent 6 months taking an online front end diploma (literally the equiv of 4 uni courses) at a local tech school and got a 65k job with what I would call a super limited skill set. Have been working with them ever since and just finished a bootcamp (3/4 paid for by my company) and almost making 6 figures.
Could barley find a job with my 4 year bachelors degree. 6 months of easy web dev diploma and I'm fighting off employers. It's awesome. Don't see why all these guys said the employment prospects were dim a couple years ago. Must have just not had the personalities/job interview skills or something.
In my opinion, learning what you are interested in is neither a coercion nor a time consuming task because you're just doing it yourself, but today C# is more stock and most of the site's designs are done through it.

I know this is 5 years too late... But man, you are a slacker... lol... I'd learn Mandarin and double it up with learning how to play violin, so it isn't too easy;)
