There is easily a 5% chance of something like this happening 2 years straight. Running has a lot of risk.
Ryan Hall is still my favourite American runner to watch. He believes the most insane goals, does things like go out at sub-62, 4:20, run all alone as fast as the lead pack but ignoring them, and compete with people you'd suspect are way over his head.
Also, he has really consistently blown our minds. He took american long distance running a long way, with a solo sub-60, aggressive 2:06 early in his career, and a groundbreaking 2:04 (for non-africans). He was the first to do all these things among US runners, and every time he raced, he'd approach with something crazy and interesting.
Hope he comes back with some strength for at least a 2 more runs.
