That's actually an excellent question. Which anchors truly reflect 'mental toughness' as a factor?
Statistically, it's a value and a marker and will show up as a correlative component against differences in performance. But the nature of the mental side is that's not black and white whether a mental aspect is a factor in performance or a product of performance. Does confidence grant you better performance, or does better performance grant you confidence? Will you weigh the anchors differently based on how you did against your competitors, even for the same level of performance.
There's a lot of subjective aspects to this. It's not a simple metric like how many miles you ran last month.
