Say what you want about crossfit, no distance runner could ever possibly compete. Not even the really beefy 150 lb guys like Webb and Solinsky;). These guys couldn't deadlift 315 lbs one time. In one single workout they would have to do that 45 times in under 4 minutes to be competitive. Oh yeah, during that 4 minutes they would also have to do 45 box jumps at 30". Could either of them do a single box jump of 30"? Probably, but they'd look awfully foolish standing over the barbell unable to start the workout.
They are both great athletes in their sport. Nothing else. Just in case any of you want to see what a real CF Games athlete does, here is the workout I referenced. Give it a try. If you can't finish this in about 5-6 minutes you would never advance out of the local level competitions. Top guys are about 3 minutes.
21 deadlifts at 315 lbs
21 box jumps at 30"
15 deadlifts at 315 lbs
15 box jumps at 30"
9 deadlifts at 315 lbs
9 box jumps at 30"
Before you go off about the danger of doing heavy lifts at a high speed, remember that these are not heavy lifts for a CF Games athlete.
