How did you figure out the 858? Is there another list? Or did you eliminate nearly 2000 entries one at a time?

It is a data file. It would be moderately easy to build a code that reads the file and eliminates the duplicate names, and then counts the number of people before WEJO. I don't feel motivated to do it and check the OP, but anyone with good coding background could probably do it over lunch.

I think the "at some endeavor" inclusion means that there are millions of people who can make a claim to this. Shane Victorino is tied for #743 on the list for most home runs of all time, for example. Similarly, Takeru Kobayashi is within the top 1000 for most hot dogs eaten within 10 minutes.
