Last name: Green
I don't think I could outrun Maurice Greene. Does it count?
Even excluding him I'm not. I just googled random common first names with my name and the word "directathletics" and got tons of guys who are better

Not going to enter my name in some database being trolled by nameless LR idiots.

Lol. Typing in your name on that website. Identity theft just waiting to happen.
Probably not, given that they can get last names from directories. Also, my last name is 951st most popular, so there would be lots of them to get stolen if it were true.
Not a chance
I think this is a very interesting concept. Depending on the event (I'm a middle distance runner with good footspeed), I would say I am definitely fastest at any event 600m and above with my last name. Also I know that I am the fastest in my lineage and that includes an Olympic 800m champion and world record holder. I was able to surpass his best times four years ago. I'm not sure that there are too many others on these boards that can say the same. Fortunately there are performance lists to confirm my status as fastest in the family.
Only about 2000 people with my last name.
I'd be interested to organize a race!
About 25 people with my full name, so hopefully I'm the quickest of them...

I'm definitely the fastest person in history with my last name. It's an extremely rare name, from a country whose people have historically had other things to do besides run.
What does that even mean?
What country?
There are 3 people in the US with my name according to the site.
One is a disabled veteran, I'm FB friends with him, he's not a runner.
Has the other dude run a 4:01.0 1500 meters, a 1:58.0 half mile, or a 2:17.5 1000 yards? Who knows?! Probably not.
You can see I'm in my 50s as I list some times in yards. Also, my name is not Horst Girst, that's a joke name among friends.
My last name is actually Lafler, an unusual surname, but perfect for me as I am a cartoonist.
And, lucky thing, I'm a much better cartoonist than runner!
I might add, my dad was a miler too. Every time I'd PR in college, his PR would magically improve to 1-5 seconds faster than me!
Yes, he's of Irish descent. Gift of the gab as it were.
Try to search here first:

I'm definitely not the fastest, and I (as a guy) am slower than a 14 year old girl in the 400m.
My last name is Ahmad, which is more common as a first name than a last name. Strictly speaking, there are a few third-rate sprinters (at the international level) from Muslim countries who ran faster than I ever could (10.5/21.x/46.x).
A few interesting cases are American Said Ahmed, who ran as fast as 3:35, Robert Cheruiyot, who won Boston and New York on multiple occasions, and Abdullah Ahmad Hassan, who ran 26:38. Ahmed and I share the same last name, it's just spelled differently in English, so I would consider him probably the fastest distance-runner with the same last name as me.
You could also put Canadian Mohammed Ahmed (27:30-ish and a top-10 finish at the Moscow World Championships) in this list.
Robert Cheruiyot converted to Islam in 2009 and supposedly goes by Omar Ahmed these days, although you don't see that too often. He ran as fast as 2:09 in New York after his conversion. Before he converted, we raced at the 2008 Boston Marathon and he won.
Abdullah Ahmad Hassan is a naturalized Qatari who used to go by Albert Cheupkurui. I suppose Hassan is his last name, although he was typically listed in races with all three names.
on foot, maybe. On skis, no way.
My last name Porter (obviously Pat Porter, so no)
My married last name Crouch (husband also a pro runner, so no)
But as far as I know, I am the fastest woman of both last names.
This is an hilarious question for me -- because I was a 4:07.6 Miler (never any faster, tons of injuries, illness, etc.) and my last name is COE.
2nd or 3rd
For sure. I have a marathon PR of 2:47 and am an age group national champion at the 25K.
my last name is quite uncommon...I'm probably high on the list even though I'm not super fast.
There's a guy that has the exact same name as me, is the same age, and we both run mid-high 15s for the 5k a few times per year.
There is a Senior at UMass with the same last name as me running the 800 Meter at 1:52:.66. I'm almost 58, so no.

My last name is Ryun. I'm no relation to the former WR holder. And I was nowhere near as good, obviously. But my last name was good for some laughs and catcalls in HS while I ran track.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
