Please ! T when in mammoth had his group train in other places like Chula Vista Oly training center ( San Diego ). They will balance Boston , better winter training when needed and altitude ( T is big proponent of altitude ).
Big picture vs actual local is that another training group is being formed and funded , great for the athletes and great for the the sport.
Coach Terrence Mahon joins BAA to coach a high performance distance running initiative ?

The chances of Boston becoming a destination city for elite runners to train is equivalent to California constructing Elon Musk's Hyperloop high speed train.

These poor runners will go where ever the money is. End of Story.
How else would things like Hanson's and Zap Fitness exist? You're telling me these sub elites put their entire lives on hold, like becoming doctors and lawyers, in order to go train in bumblebutt Michigan and North Carolina, because those were the best places for training? No, they went there because someone would pay them. -
I heard the BAA is bringing in Mahon to coach this guy:

There was a woman named Lynn Jennings who would have been pretty good if she had enough sense not to train in the Boston area.

Curious as to who they bring in. Ben True given his local roots & base would be a fit especially as he moves up but I know he is at Dartmouth right now. They would have a good feeder system from Providence especially with the Irish athletes. Will New Balance have any involvement or will Addidas back this too? Some interesting things to consider.

I dont think True will leave Hanover. He seems to have a good thing going with Coogan and has a solid training partner in Chelanga.
Though, New Balance has a large presence in Boston, I think this BAA elite team will strictly be Adidas. With the folding of McMillan Elite I wouldn't be too surprised to see a few of those guys make the move East. -

Most of those folks have been drinking the "altitude" Kool-Aid. It would be a tough pill to swallow to move to sea level. -
Interesting what happens with some of the local talent which is maybe just behind that level ie Ruben Sanca, Nate Jenkins, Harvey, Ritchie etc etc.
-
From the press release: “Our objective is to create a well-supported group of top performing athletes who will live, train and be coached towards the goal of representing the United States at international competitions.”
If that is the actual goal then the Irish athletes from PC and Ruben probably wouldn't fill the bill since they can't represent the US.
Also it says in the headline of the release that the program is going to be sponsored by Adidas.

True, but with no McMillan Elite / $$$ some might be willing to head to Boston. -

Would be cool to see a BAA vs. NY/NJ TC dual meet! Depends on the athletes the BAA gets. Mahon coaches everything from the 1500m to the marathon, so will be interesting to see what kind of group they put together. As of right now, it seems like his professional athletes are all females.
Mahon wouldn't have come here if adidas and the BAA weren't putting up some serious cash, so there is no doubt in my mind that they will have everything they need - including getting out of town when necessary.
THIS would be awesome if BAA could get a competitive enough team together. A Boston-New York rivalry in track would be sweet -

I bet Ritchie will end up as part of this group. Not sure about Harvey though, but it would be awesome if he was also. -
I definitely see Tim Ritchie making the elite distance team. Ruben Sanca, on the other hand, used to be BAA but is now running for Whirlaway.

I really don't see how Mike MAhon isn't an Athlete& Coach on this team

What if anything does this mean for Terrance Shea's role with the BAA..?
-
in the Boston versus New York rivalry where would NE Distance Project sit? Representing Rhode Island/ Providence?

Mike Peroni's assistant? -
NE Distance Project is nice but unless they grow a lot it's just that, a project. Right now they only have 1 man and 3 women so I wouldn't even start to compare them to the others.
