All American, Jake Huryzs has a hip injury and will redshirt this season, which may be a good tactical move for the buffs. Can you imagine a healthy Huryzs coming back in 2014 with basically all team members returning! Lets just hope he can recover even with a years rest. His former teammate , all American Joe Bosshard could not recover.
I'm really disgusted with Ammar Moussa he redshirted last year and did not run today and he has NOT been injured. Hey Moussa,.. if you are not going to take this serious you need to quit and give your scholarship to someone who does! His performance/effort is not befitting of the national high school champion he was.
Another one who puzzles me is Hugh Dowdy. Hugh is really a nice guy and was running right with all American Blake Theroux last year in a couple races , and then he died at regionals and has never been the same since. He looked really tired and struggled throughout his race today. Although he does tend to start the season slow and builds momentum as the season goes on. We'll see what happens
2 of the CU freshman looked really impressive. National high school star , Ben Saarel finished 2nd , one second behind all American and race winner Blake Theroux. If you ever see Ben in person he is a tall, big kid and well muscled compared to the other runners.
,
Zach Perrins finished 5th right behind last years 45th place nationals runner Pierce Murphy. I like watching Pierce and Zach run . They both run angry.
Former Colorado High School track star Conner Winter finished a respectable 6th especially considering he really is more of a miler type.
Also high schooler Elise Cranny won the womens race which was impressive although there were no all Americans in the race. I'm looking forward to seeing her go against California's Sarah Baxter. Man I really hope Elise comes to CU
