Aurora--
I'll race you, how early in the day are you available? We could make it a morning race and I can be on my way (perhaps to race someone else if anyone responds). Is 8am a possibility or do you have to work?

Unfortunately I work that morning. I wouldn't be able to race until 4:30 pm. I'll post race info this evening, and you can treat it as a backup plan in case no one else responds.
This whole thread is about the coolest thing that I have seen on these boards in a long time. Would be awesome if there were always these challenge matches popping up on here.
So, why don't I challenge someone, you may reasonably ask. Well, because I am old and slow at this point. I'd gladly officiate/videotape if some fast folks want to hold a "grudge match" here in the Bay Area.
The above post was me. Forgot to change back my handle.

Great, thanks for making that. Should we say 5pm start time? I'll be at the start line ready to race. It shouldn't be hard to find each other, we should be the only two people waiting at the 100m mark.
This is pretty awesome. Good luck to you both.
I'd say you should compare your 5k-times. If one is a lot slower than the other, give him a head start.
Good luck guys, you're awesome.
5pm it is. Do you want to meet at 4:30 to jog the course? It won't be marked.
As for the handicap suggestion, I think you said you just wanted to race blind on each other's fitness, yes?
Also, in case you still want to road trip tomorrow, I strongly suggest Starved Rock State Park. Drive is a bore of cornfields, but the park is beautiful.
Sounds like it is on like Donkey Kong. A third party needs to go and see if either actually posts for the "race".
Yeah I like the idea of racing before knowing anything about each other. I'll even go so far as to say I'd rather keep conversation to a bare minimum until after the race...it's more exciting to have no idea what the race will be like (especially if it ends up our 2-mile PRs are like 8:30 vs 17:30).
So I'll see you at 5 sharp at the start line (I think I'll be okay on the course just from studying it on google maps). I hope that, like me, you're showing up to win.
Letsrace,
Do you wanna fight? I'd be willing to drive up to 400 miles and if you are willing to drive 400 miles we can make it happen. No weapons though. Winner by knockout.
Wow, that is so cool. Can't wait to hear from you, guys!
There is a great concept here. The domain letsrace.com was registered back in 2012 but I can see trying to set something up every time I go somewhere - even for just a temporary training partner. What a great way to get introduced to the best local running areas. But sadly, we know how this would all end: some creep would ruin it for everyone. But I digress. Good luck guys. Looking forward to a race report.

Count on it.
Awesome stuff!! Good luck to both.
Nobody in Chicago area can go record this? I would in a heartbeat if I lived there. Actually, I'd probably want to race, but I'd bring a friend with a camera to record.

Why did you choose to not loop around that 2nd track on the bottom instead of that parking lot loop? You guys could pack TWO sets of stands for this!!
I have the same question. Why not stay at the track?
Also, Aurora Resident, can you bring friends? For timing, pics and videos, etc.
2nd track is usually kept locked up, whereas the one we're using is open to the public.
On an unrelated note, the "jersey" I am wagering:

Love this idea. This is better than World Championships.
Put up results after.
