This is just the age-old "we are well above the others... because I said so". Our democracies are not democracies. The people rules? People get to vote once in a while for well-funded politicians that will not comply with their promises. I am not proud of our `democracies'. Being slightly better than the worst is not the same as being perfect and in a position to teach lessons.
