Good show for the Americans. Lagat :58, Rupp :01, Jager :02, Derrick :08. Season Bests for Lagat and Rupp and Personal Bests for Jager and Derrick. USA is definitely making an impact more and more.

Lets see they are about 2.5 years apart in age and Jager turned Pro before Rupp, yep the future has arrived (Almost)

Something for you to seriously dwell on before you post again.
Holy cow, it's OKAY! Rojo is not dumb. He's human, makes an error from time to time. No where on this site has Robert Johnson announced that he is the most perfect person in the world. He made a mistake...
^ Mrs. Rojo?
Galen was looking for Mo in that pic... just habit.
XP (Other thread died) -- I'm surprised no one's wondering why the times aren't faster. Alamirew ran 12:48 in Paris last year, and the WL time was 12:46. Rupp's mile and 3000 times indoors convert to low 12:40s. I felt Derrick was under raced going into WC, and hoped to see a breakthrough from him significantly better than just shaving his PR slightly. Both he and Rupp may have had some potential injury issues they had to adjust training to avoid, but are keeping it to themselves, who knows. Hopefully both will get a chance to set some big PRs next year.
How about a US XC dream team in Spain next March with Rupp, Ritz, Derrick, Jager and True, plus whoever else is healthy of these - Teg, Solinsky, Hill, Vail, Bumbalough? A gold medal in XC would be a great start to the year for all these guys.
I have a life size cutout of Galen in my bedroom. Got it after he won silver. It inspires me every morning and it's the last thing I look at before bed.

Which of Rupp's times converts to low 12:40s????
Lagat beat them both.
Jager!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Clear thinking. Apparently in the future, Jager can almost beat Rupp.
Great drama.
takethatnop wrote:
13:01 Rupp 13:02 Jager.
Leaving aside all the usual back-and-forth about which performance was "better," I do think it's amusing that the OP started a thread called "The Future Has Arrived" to discuss a race where the top American by a clear margin was 38 years old. Tomorrow may be a different story, but for now the future is still in the future.

Precisely 2 years and 10 months. So you would come across as having zero integrity.
Here is a hint for you. Demonstrating zero integrity rarely causes others to be impressed by your 'argument'.

When did he demonstrate zero integrity?

They were 3 years apart in high school (2004 v 2007). Their birth years are 3 years apart (1986 v 1989). Their actual age difference is closest to 3 years and indeed is closer to 3 years than 2.5.
As such, what possible reason can there be to say "they are about 2.5 years apart in age"? There is only one possible answer and that is to purposely exaggerate in order to deceive.
Lack of integrity.

Do you know what "about" means? Is English not your first language?

God I wish there was another running board...
Moving on:
I have to say I'm surprised Jager hasn't been called out for his use of PED. I mean a PR by what? 10 seconds? At his level? Imagine one of Salazar's runners making a drop like that?!
rojo wrote:Did anyone think it was weird how Rupp looked over his shoulder with about 280 to go? It was his inside shoulder which is really weird.
Yes, it looks weird, but he's half a line out, probably from trying to countermove those going past him on the outside, realising that's blocked he has to a) fall back in to the side, and b) checking back if backing out to go the long way round is even an option.
I think the real question is "why did he give up his bell lead so easy with 300 to go, setting himself in that position at all?".
Nevermind, no XC next year. I saw a page for 2014 XC in Spain, but that was wrong, forgot it was switched to bi-annual in 2012. That sucks.
I can't remember which calculator I used that converted his 7:30.
The IAAF scoring table gives his 26:48 performance 1245 points. 12:50.54 also is worth 1245. His 7:30.16 is good for 1238, which seems a bit low.

Jerry's guys all get passes because they're blue collar. Believe me, Jerry is just as ruthless as Salazar, just more disguised.

Blue collar? How? Do they all have jobs?
There isn't World XC next year. There next World XC is in 2015.

The field did not want to stick with the rabbits. 12:50 only happens if the field goes with rabbits.
